Question about 1998 Dodge Durango
Speedometer gearing damaged or speed sensor problem. It is electronic (no cable).
Since it works intermittantly, I would tend to lean toward the speedo. This may require a swap of the entire cluster.

There is no diagram necessary. There is a speed sensor located on the side of the transmission. It is a magnetic sensor that sends the # or rpms to the ecu, and it calculates your speed, and sends to the speedo.
I would appreciate you returning HERE to modify your rating from "thanks for trying" to a higher rating. The eperts here at Fixya are assigned a percentage in direct correlation to the ratings given. A "thanks for trying" rating greatly skews the average in a negative way. Your question was answered appropriately.
