Question about 1992 Ford Escort 4 Door
My car is a 2 door model,1992 make, ford esort model.... looks like there is power, the radio and lights come on when the key is turned but engine will not crank? Is it possible the starter has gone bad? idea's? thanks...
First Check for Good Battery Volts 12.6-7 at least and If Possible A Load test on battery it must hold (9.6 Volts NO LOWER ) for 20-30 seconds Load. After that try and have someone out under hood listen for a CLICK when trying to start IF NO CLICK it will be at your Starter RELAY to start Find it close to Battery With 2 Battery Positive Cable connected 1 Hot 12 volt 1 Not and a SMALL Sometimes "L" shaped Slide on connector Between the 2 Heavy CABLES on both sides Check the "L" Connector for Corrosion and Connectivity "TIGHTNES" on its post<< unless its Bolted on <if not
after CLEANING Surfaces Recheck for start. If No Start Replace the Starter Solenoid. But if it At Least Clicks NOW > Test light to Neg Battery Probe the Battery cable SIZED Cable Going OUT of that Solenoid If there is a Light Sounds Silly but Raise Vehicle And Smack the STARTER With a Hammer 2-3 times if it starts Replace the STARTER. If Not Replace Solenoid First see if you get STart if so good to go if noe REPLACE STARER ALSO. I Hope this in Informative to you and it Leads you to youy Problem, Good Day, RejakWilson
