First Check for Good Battery Volts 12.6-7 at least and If Possible A Load test on battery it must hold (9.6 Volts NO LOWER ) for 20-30 seconds Load. After that try and have someone out under hood listen for a CLICK when trying to start IF NO CLICK it will be at your Starter RELAY to start Find it close to Battery With 2 Battery Positive Cable connected 1 Hot 12 volt 1 Not and a SMALL Sometimes "L" shaped Slide on connector Between the 2 Heavy CABLES on both sides Check the "L" Connector for Corrosion and Connectivity "TIGHTNES" on its post<< unless its Bolted on <if not
after CLEANING Surfaces Recheck for start. If No Start Replace the Starter Solenoid. But if it At Least Clicks NOW > Test light to Neg Battery Probe the Battery cable SIZED Cable Going OUT of that Solenoid If there is a Light Sounds Silly but Raise Vehicle And Smack the STARTER With a Hammer 2-3 times if it starts Replace the STARTER. If Not Replace Solenoid First see if you get STart if so good to go if noe REPLACE STARER ALSO. I Hope this in Informative to you and it Leads you to youy Problem, Good Day, RejakWilson

Suspect your battery.
Charge it up, or get a jump start, then get the battery tested !

Good Luck !

    Hi Joel

I still suspect that battery !

If you are sure your battery has plenty of Head Lights on and main beams are bright.

    Then the starter is suspect.

I have had sucess in the past, tapping the top of the starter selenoid with a long metal drift or hammer if you can manage it, whilst someone turns the ignition key to the start position.

Follow the posative lead from the battery, down back of the engine to the right, and you will see the starter motor, try to keep clear of the terminals when tapping.

    Good Luck !

Let me know how you get on.

My 2004 Ford Escapes radio wont work and it doesnt let me lock my doors when the car isnt running it also doesnt ding when the car doors are open. what is happening?

Hello Al,

Does your dash display a flashing "service soon" indicator?
Have you checked for fault codes?

You have a good battery, your ignition switch is powering up the vehicles dash board and the vehicle will start and operate normally....?

Any lights on the radio display?
Check for 12 volts on the radio power power? check for 12 volts across the accessory / radio position in the fuse box. No power but fuse is good...wiring issue in the harness.

Power across fused circuit no power to radio check radio's in line fuse...fuse good? ... radio bad or disconnected speaker wires.

Make sure all your vehicles grounding positions are clean and tight.

When you say your door locks don't work are your talking about the switch on the door or the remote fob?

Check your owners manual to check for any radio reset info.

When i changed ignition on 2001 ford explorer I ended up having to replace steering column now it wont turn over & the anti theft light flashes & wont stop. what can be done to get car started?

At least you know the anti theft system is working. Jokes aside, I would think that the electronic security system is not recognising the new lock and steering column. You could try leaving the battery completely disconnected for at least 2 or 3 hours to see if the system resets. Reconnect the battery and then try again with the new key. You will have to put the security code back into your radio as well. If this doesn't work, it may need to go to a Dealer to reprogram your electronic system.

I have a 2001 ford expediton 4.6 4wd..2 days ago I went to turn off my car and the radio and that beeping sound when the key is in the ignition when the door is open stayed on and wouldnt go off. I turned...

Not the Key but the ignition itself. Replace teh ignition module where the key is inserted to start the vehicle and that should resolve the issue.

Radio wont hol memory, dome light wont work when key switch off, and All lock wont unlock doors unless key in on.

Probably a fuse. You radio keeps it's memory using a constant power wire which is probably interlinked with the dome light, door locks, etc. Check fuses under the dash as well as under the hood for any blown fuses. Look for fuses labeled with your listed problems of things that don't work.
