Probably so. When making a left hand turn, if the noise gets loader, it is the right side bearing. IE... putting more wieght on that side of the car.

sound like the hubs may be bad and not completly disengaging or engaging, this will give you a loud clucking grinding type noise,i would remove the hubs and see if they are working good, or put selector into 2wd and jack the front of the truck off the ground and spin the wheel to see if the axle moves, this is so common, a think this year has the vaccum control hub too, the hubs are common, you will need to make sure the vaccum lines are connected and clear of dirt, this sound you speak of i know it sounds like it grinding metal, theres also a module that goes bad but you will need to start with the hubs.

Backing up very loud grinding like bearings

I would investigate the transfer case. By your description here it sounds as if the gears inside are worn and the drive chain inside is rubbing, causing the loud noise you hear.

Front end 95 jimmy

Sorry not sure what kinda noise your hearing but here are a few things that would cause that.
1 Check for worn ball joints. 2 Check for tire pressure. 3 Check for wheel bearing failure. 4 Check for worn brake pads and rotors. 5 Easies on is to check to see if the brake dust is rubbling.
Good luck and hope this helps

Grinding noise in front end

Hi
Had the exact same problem, on a used 2003 Protege ES with 82,000 miles that I purchased.
Started with the loud "road noise" I thought well maybe thats just the sound that it makes.
And then noticed that it varies when turning.
This will continue to get worse and then your abs light will come on when it gets bad enough to trigger the sensor..
It turned out to be a bad wheel bearing.
Take it to a shop and have an experienced mechanic check it out. Its repairable.
