Question about 2004 Volkswagen Touareg
Battery died (again)(This is the 3rd Dealer exchanged battery along w/a long 'Baffle Him w/ BS story') tried to jump start w/lighter to lighter plug in ---didn't work ---used cables -- worked -- after comfort resetting, everything seemed to work EXCEPT SOUND -It appears that the cds are playing but no SOUND it appears to be on a station NO SOUND
Some German cars have anti-theft device inside to make it useless to steal...check at the dealership to see if jumping the battery will activate this(the car thinks its being stolen) .

I have come to find out that in the 90's auto makers started installing factory amplifiers in their cars so they could use low wattage stereos in the dash. It's usually a blue wire off the stereo that runs the amp, maybe it couldve become disconnected? I also know that even if you put in an after market stereo, this wire must be hooked up or you'll get no sound from the speakers. hope this helps.

I am having the exact same problem with my VW Touareg @60,000 miles. Two weeks ago and again today it sputters and stalls shortly after starting. I brought it into the shop and they could not reproduce the problem and said it was fine. Also, they had no ideas when I describes the problem. Anyone know what it going on? I am out of warranty.
