The IAC motor is probably controls the idle. Try pulling it off and cleaning it out...or just replace it

Cool start won't start when cold outside

it often happens in the winter, naturally, the cold weather will have some effect on all the car's system, especially the battery and cooling system.

2004 Saturn Ion wont start from time to time when it is cold outside.. Like this morning my daughter went outside and the car started right up with the temp outside 7 degrees. She warmed it up for awhile...

LOL repeating questions. Its your ignition switch. its a common problem with ions ( I myself have a 04 ion and had it replaced twice in 3 years) repair is around 400 dollars with labor. Just google "ion not starting in cold weather" and youll get TONS of threads. No recall either its stupid

Car will not start and it is 2 degrees outside

Put a heater inside the motor compartment with a fan so you can warm the engine up. throw a piece of plastic over it so the battery will warm up too, after about an hour it should get warm enough to start then buy a in line heater for the engine at any parts store and leave it plugged in at night so you can start it in cold weather. hope this helps.

2001 dodge durango, when the weather is real cold

have the ECT checked,
Engine coolant temperature, lets the computer know whether it should push more fuel thru for cold mornings ,
the sensor could be telling the computer that your engine temp is 75 degrees, means less fuel being pushed

My name is Dennis and I think you have your finger on the problem but you may need encouragement.
Please consider the weather in relation to the events that you describe.
Also consider the repair was the car inside when it was repaired? and then did it start and run untill it was cold again?
When it's cold you have a problem except after the car is warm it's O.K. so the problem seems to be just when the car is cold.
I think the problem is the choke is too lean. If the car isn't Fuel injected the problem is the choke.
