Check engine light

I just purchased my 1998 Mazda Millenia and I noticed on my way to work that the check engine light came on,what would cause this? The temperature was normal and the engine was running normal with no lost of power, could it just be a bad sensor?

Thank you, will get that done today but also noticed that it seems to be using a little more gas than it should even though I'm use to a 4 cyl. and this is a V-6. Where I bought it from, they told me to bring it by and they will put i on the computer but will also take it to autozone and repost code . Thank you so much

over 100 different problems in the electronic engine control system will cause this light to come on, here is what you do, go to any Autozone or Kragen auto, they will test the system and retrieve the trouble code(s) that are stored in the computer memory, post it back here. Oh the test is free, they want to sell u parts, don't buy anything until an expert has looked at it.

My 1998 mazda millenia check engine light was on steady an just started blinking today. I have 3 small children an im afraid to drive it now. What could be causing this Thank you,. Kelly

A solid check engine light means the ECM, or computer, has detected a fault with a sensor, solenoid, etc. A blinking check engine light means the fault has either temporarily gone away, or been repaired. Stop by Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and have them scan your OBDII computer in your car. From there, we can further diagnose the fault causing the Check Engine Light.

I have a 1997 Mazda Millenia bought it used. Anyway like 2 days ago a light switch came on (ACS) I don't know what that is and it's been wanting to stall out. Do you have any idea what it might be?

go to autozone & check the code for free mazda millenia they all have problem with the check engine light problem even though you bought all new parts it will still show , but never replace the cat converter most cause the engine light is the sensor only.

Mazda millenia problems

here are a few problems to look out for:

Check-engine light: Check engine light comes on due to carbon buildup on the exhaust valves of 2.5L engine. (1995-02)

Engine noise: Some engines make a metallic tapping noise requiring a new friction-gear spring on the camshaft. (1995)

Headlights: The headlight drain hoses can get kinked by the aiming screws causing fogging. (1995-96)

Keys: It may be hard to turn the ignition key because the steering shaft is not positioned correctly. (1995)

Steering problems: The steering wheel may be off center requiring adjustment of the tie rods. (1995). You can also have a look at the following website where some owner have given their opinions on owning one. http://www.carsurvey.org/reviews/mazda/millenia/r68654/comments/

Check engine light 1998 Mazda Millenia ( for emissionwiz)

Check engine light usually indicates an oxygen sensor malfunction. The switch is usually installed in the side of the exhaust pipe near the engine. In the winter the wire that is connected to it often breaks off. It is usually a simple fix for a mechanic.
