Question about 1997 Volkswagen Golf

1 Answer

1997 Gulf- 1 light, wiper motor, radio

Helllloooo....before I send my beautiful but stubborn little trouble maker off to an orphanage, maybe someone can help??
The left headlight AND left tail lights are out.  AND the wiper motor just DIED after I had it replaced in July!!
You think all this is connected somehow?  Maybe there is a ten dollar fuse I can stick in somewhere?  Also-- if I have just replaced the battery-- would that have affected anything there??  (besides not having a radio now)
Other than these minor details, the car runs GREAT

Have someone check the connections from the harness connector to the wiper control board to see if the solder joints have deteriorated. Might need to be re-soldered.

First check out the fuse box under the dash board and find the fuses and relays indicated. Swap out the relays to test the (possible) bad one AFTER you check out the fuses!

Ihave a 2003 Ford Explorer & the windshield wipers won't stop working, with the switch turned off or even removed. The only way to stop them is to remove the battery cable.

Sounds like the park switch in the wiper motor is bad. Some manufacturers allwo you to change the circuit board seperately from the motor, sometimes they have to be changed as a unit

Trouble shoot why wipers on a 1997 concord will not work. they are stuck straight up on the windsheild.

check the fuses if they are good then with the wipers on tap the wiper motor to see if it starts.if it does then the wiper motor will need be replaced.if not then take and run a good ground wire to the body of the wiper motor if it works then you have a ground circuit problem.just attach a good ground wire to the body of the motor.these are the 2 most common problems that techs first check.

The windshield wipers have stopped working, i can hear the motor working when i turn them on, but they won't move! same for both front and back wipers! can someone give me step by step instructions to find...

If you have had ice or snow on the car then used the wipers they sometimes come lose at the base. the wiper arm has a cap at the bottom of it and a nut normally 13mm check to see these are tight first before going any further.

I would have said maybe the front ones have came off the runner bar inside but as both are not working its hard to say. there is a panel just under the front windsheild the wiper motor is in there have a look see if anything has snapped or came off.

hope this helps

THE WINDSHEILD WIPERS ON MY 2002 EXPLORER WILL NOT SHUT OFF.

if you havent fixed this yet, the only (2) solutions I can think of would be #1. a bad wiper motor relay, or the more likely of the 2, a worn/bad multi-function switch (common on most Fords with a M/Func. switch, i.e. turn signal/wiper control lever).
