Car stalls and revs it self

Coming to a stop at a light and i go to press the gas the car will stall out on me. It also revs it self as if I pressing the gas. Most of the time after it stalls and I turn it back on it wont it will act like it wants to but just keeps puttering. I am at a loss and really dont want to get rid of the car because i feel it has a lot more life in it. Anyone have any answers? I have 2 little ones and I cant even have them in the car with me because it likes to stall in the middle of an intersection.

Would this make it do it only sometimes? Its been happening since July. And it will do it a few times then stop and we can go a few months with no problems. Then it will be 3 weeks straight and I've taken it to 2 different mechanics who "don't know what the problem is". All the other times it will do it once a day but now its every time.My husband and I are going to try to find it I was just wondering because if I take it to another mechanic and ask them about it and then get the part i would like to be able to be done with it. Thanks

There should be a large rubber tube that connects the throttle body to the air filter box...check the tube - take it off and flex it around. look for any cracks in it. if there are any, you can patch them temporarily with rubber cement and electrical tape. You really should replace it. only the toyota dealer can get it. it is called the Air Horn in the parts computer.

well, it will only do it sometimes, yes... But this problem tends to be worse if you are trying to speed up fast.. then engine will "buck" and maybe stall out. the reason is : when you step on the gas hard, the motor rocks from side to side on the motor mounts. When it does this, that is what opens the cracks, causing the car to **** in more air than the mass airflow sensor is "seeing" - this is why the motor bucks and dies or just bogs out badly..

Oh wow, it edited the word $uck - i guess i should have said "take in more air" - sorry, lol

Engine stalls, then runs after pressing accelerator

If you were low on gas at the time, it could have shifted the fuel in the tank when you turned. The engine can stall for a couple of seconds and then restart as the fuel pump primes again.

How do you tell if a automatic hyundai excel gbox is slipping

If you step on the gas and the engine accelerates but the car doesn't then that's slippage.

If you press the brake at a stop while you step on the gas you can determine the stall speed of your torque converter, if the engine revs beyond the stall speed then it's the torque converter clutch, TCC clutch solenoid, or a bad converter. Otherwise you need a professionals help.
