1996 mercury cougar xr7 shifting problems

Its a sensor module i'm pretty sure but no i thought it got better after we fixed the overdrive because it doesn't drive forward constantly now it seems like its trying to go in reverse but it won't. we thought maybe pulling it from the rear while in reverse if that might make it go in reverse or not what do u think? Also now the overdrive is stuck off bcuz now the fuse is blown for the overdrive and every new fuse we put in blows right away so its stuck off and theres a short somewhere now i believe.

some of the wires from the chasis to the trans. are showing. seems that they may have crossed causing the short but every gear still goes forward except park. Reverse wants to stall. Thats all there is to my knowledge thnx again for your help.

The fuelpump is located inside the gas tank, you will need to drop the tank and remove the pump from the top. also make sure to install new fuel filter.

We have a 1997 Mercury Cougar XR7 30th Anniversary Edition. When we turn off the ignition, the cooling fan stays on. It doesn't stop. What can we do to fix this problem? Is it the relay switch or what...

HOW LONG IS IT STAYING ON? 5 OR 10 MINUTES IS OK. IF IT'S ON LONGER, IT'S PROBABLY THE RELAY. THY THAT FIRST. IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT , HAVE A RELIABLE SHOP CHECK THE BODY CONTROL MODULE.

i would need more info but it sounds like your trans shifter cable is out of adjustment ; you need to carefully with the brake on and the car idling; move your trans shifter cable to all positions to check for forward and reverse.
Make sure car is chalked or raised of the ground ,
