Have the oil changed and then ...
with the ignition key on engine off, set trip meter to TRIP A , turn
key off , now press and hold the trip button and turn the ignition key
to the on position -engine off , hold until odometer reads 000000 , and

It could just be in need of it's oil change. I would consider taking it to your local autozone and they can use a scan tool to isolate the problem free of charge and only takes a couple of minutes. If it is something more serious please come back and update me. thank you, Lee

The maintenance required light is there to remind you that your oil change is due. This light needs to be reset after the oil ic changed, it is manually reset. If you just had your oil changed, the light will not go off by itself. The light is designed to illuminate after 5,000 miles since the last reset procedure.
if it was me i would stop by your local Toyota dealer ship and talk with the service manager and he or she be able to help you with this you can also give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.
Most maintenance lights are set to come on automatically every 5,000 miles telling you to get your oil changed. If you do your own service, or have someone other then the Toyota dealer service your vehicle, look for that light description in the owners manual where it explains the dash lights and go to the page explaining it and it should give you the procedure to reset that light when it comes on.
You can take it back and have them reset the light that they for got to do. Or check your manual and do it your self. I think you push the trip setter and hold it until the dashes disappear. Or go to trip a and then push and hold.

disconnect the positive battery cable for 3 min.reconnect and start it up,if light comes back on,there is a malfunction in computer system that controls your drivetrain.service engine soon light pertains to the computer, sensors, etc.this light is not for maintenance reminders!
That is a friendly "get the oil changed light" and a reminder that a 25K service is due. To get rid of the light, push down the "A" trip reset button, turn the car off (while holding the button down), and turn the ignition on but don't start the car - while still holding down the A reset button. You'll see a count up meter on the display that will tell you when the system is reset. Enjoy.
