Hi Jocelyn, I need to better understand a couple of things: 'dashboard power engine' do you mean the check engine light, or service engine light? Also, 'engine..start hi and low temperature' so do you mean the engine temperature gauge is going up and down as you drive? Your oil and oil filter should be changed every 3 to 4 thousand miles, or twice a year, whichever comes 1st, although I don't think it has anything to do with your current problem.

I am wondering if this is a faulty temperature switch or cooling fan switch. They control the cooling fan operation, and could explain the up and down of the temperature gauge if not working properly.

Hi, let me know what the garage says, and would appreciate holding off on rating until you know the outcome. Hopefully, I'll do better than 'thanks for trying'!!

  • Curt Downs Jan 15, 2009

Hello Jocelyn, it might be possible that your 1.5 engine shares some (or hopefully all) of the components of the 1.6 engine available here. The only way to know, would be to compare the old parts to new for the 1.6 as you have said. Let me do some more research to see if I can find the location of the parts on the engine.

Sorry for delay, have been away, can't find anymore info, but would recommend you contact Toyota Ed at this fixya site, he is amazing, and knows all about toyotas, very smart guy. Let me know what happens, or if I can help otherwise.

the only petrol filter is fixed directly with the petrol pump under the back seat so if its need change you must change the petrol pump , or attach one directly near the engine...

Toyota corolla 2000 japan... p/s appearing on dash board and then the steering is difficult to turn and also the speed can't go above 80km/h

Check whether your power steering system is working with belt and the belt probably split and it doesn't work. If it is electronic steering controlled, the is a different story, check first what is it and if is the second option then you need a qualified mechanic to help. Reason of dropping the speed to 80km/h is like the vehicle got into safe mode to drive it slowly to an authorized garage for repair.

How remove f link from fuse box in 97 corolla

Hi. The fusible links are the big fuses located in the fuse box. The exact location of the fuses depend on the engine and on the version of the car. In 1997 Toyota built series
7 Corolla. At the end of 1997 Series 8 was introduced. in the year 1997 both models with different engines were distributed. There are up to 4 fusible links (big fuses ranging from 30 Amp towing protector to 100 Amps) See here.
Low amps fusible links are also in passenger compartment.
The fusible links are simply fuses and can get replaced using long nose pliers.

Below I have published the fuse diagrams covering Toyota series 7 (1993 to 1997) models.

The fusible links can be purchased here.
The site also includes schematics.

In case the car is a series 8 (late 1997), here service manual for series 8.

Here a fuse link for Corolla 1997, color may vary depending on amps, the one below is low amp current 30A, 100A is usually blue and 40A green, there may be black fuses with no color code:

Well, i just bought a toyota corolla 91, i dont know if it's xl, xe or what, the owner can't tell it either, she was the second owner... anyway the engine is still in good running...

To find out the model, the easiest solution is to locate the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) located in several locations, the easiest being the dashboard and the driver side door post. You would then enter the VIN onto a site such as CARFAX, which would also detail any accidents etc. reported on the car. I would recommend a mechanic for your other problems. Good luck!
