Isuzu Rodeo 2004 (Check Engine)

My 2004 Rodeo has check engine light on. Dealer said that we need to do (1) DI Decarbon with GM product and 5.00 In Gas for $389 and (2)Oil comsumption test for $207.... without knowing specific reason for check engine light, do I need to do this?? Also, that is reasonable price for those jobs?
Please advise.

I have the exact same problem and have had for a long time. I finally found someone who could help. There's a problem in the computer that makes it go on. Hopefully - since there's a law that says anything with emmisions is 8 year or 80,000 miles I can get a new one under warranty. The problem in the computer is what makes the check engine light go on. It's not the MASS sensor that the code says it is. I only got my answer yesterday to a competent mechanic. Seems they're hard to find.

Well, if it isnt broke, well you know the rest. As a kid in the shop we were directed to add dextron 3 to the fuel to decarbonize an engine. I have practiced this and my ford 5.8 that just hit 280,000 .. Cant say that was it, but point being it didnt hurt it. They actually make a old school fuel additive called Marvel Mystery Oil, It is Dextron 3 mostly. The oil consumption test you can do, Do a oil change , after 1000 mi. drain it and see that you have what you put in. That is what they are charging you too do. Is it worth it? umm, no

NO! Go to Wal-Mart or Your local Parts Store a get a Couple of Cans of "B12 Chemtool" Add it 1 can at a time on a Full tank of Fuel. This is the SAME thing that they would do!

What was the trouble code? ask the dealer and let me know, and $207 is about right for the job as long as they guarantee the job, if the check eng light comes back on with the same trouble code they will fix it for free, are they? U can de-carbon the engine yourself, it is not that hard and any shop can do it as well, it is not a service only the dealer has to do, it requires little special equip.

adding Chemtool is not what the dealer will do, they run a light carbon desolving oil through the intake very slowly with a special injector tool, takes about one hour to complete.

Your fuel pump may be bad. But have you checked the cam positioning sensor or map sensor. But one more thing, I would check the timing belts, if anything is one tooth off it will cause lots of problems. If you need parts. Look up Tom's Truck Parts on the internet. I have rebuilt 2 1995 Isuzu Rodeos and they have everything you may need.

Why does the fuel pump hum so loud? The fuel gauge jumps and my service engine light is flashing.

Loud fuel pumps are fairly common in gm products (isuzu) as far as the check engine light, flashing means you are not supposed to drive it solid mean you have a problem get it scanned at a local parts store and post the code here i can help

After replacing the spark plugs on my 2002 isuzu rodeo my check engine light came on what can be the problem.

That generation Rodeo uses special plugs, they have something to do with ion handling, and they have to be specially ordered from an Isuzu Dealer. Most shops and auto parts stores have no idea.

Intermittant check engine light

The only way to find out what the problem is is by doing a scan of the car computer module using an OBD code reader.
The codes returned will tell you the cause of the problem.
