Sounds like a direct short either in the switch unit or relay also could be anywhere along wire line the best way to fix this is take it to electromechanic shop or buy a repair manual ex:haynes or chiltons and have at it with multitester, light tester and alot of patience and determination, even for techs these things take time and patience, I do not recoomend this for average do it your selfer! but as I am tech and have doen this many times it can be doen by following troubleshooting section in manual.

If headlights don't come on on a 2000 Buick Lesabre what do you think is wong

first go for the easy stuff. do the tail lights come on? if so, then will almost guarantee it's bad bulbs in headlights. if tail lights do not come on I would check fuses first relay second. switch third.

I need clarification on 2003 Chev Malibu DRL problems:

That piece you think is a ceramic DRL module is a resistor , When in DRL mode voltage to the low beam headlamps circuit goes through that resistor dimming the headlamps from low beam to daytime running lamps . It sounds to me like you need a new resistor ,but without doing some electrical testing it could be a lot of things . The DRL relay in the under hood fuse box could have a problem , could be the BCM - body control module , the ambient light sensor etc... Here is how daytime running lamps work .
Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
The ambient light sensor is a light sensitive transistor that varies its voltage signal to the body control module (BCM) in response to changes to the outside (ambient) light level. When the BCM receives this signal it will either turn on the daytime running lights (DRL) or the headlights. Any function or condition that turns on the headlights will cancel the daytime running lamps operation. With the headlight switch in the OFF position, the headlights will either be turned ON or OFF, after an approximate 30 second delay depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The HTR A/C IGN fuse in the underhood junction block supplies ignition positive voltage to the daytime running lamp (DRL) relay coil circuit. The DRL relay switch contacts are connected to the low beam circuit. When the headlamp switch is placed in the OFF position, the BCM will either turn on or off the daytime running lamps, depending on whether daylight or low light conditions are sensed. The BCM energizes the DRL relay, closing the switch contacts and grounding the low beam circuit. Ground is provided at G101. The DRL illuminate the low beam headlights at a reduced intensity. The DRL will operate when the ignition switch is in the ON position, the gear selector is not in the PARK position and the parking brake is released. When these conditions have been met and the ambient light sensor indicates daytime conditions, the DRL will illuminate.

My 2002 chrysler sebring headlights don't work I do have park and brake lights. what would the problem be?

Your Sebring has daytime running lights (DRLs). A failure in the DRL circuits can disable the headlights. Check 40A fuse 4 in the power distribution center and 15A fuse 4, 20A fuse 10, 10A fuses 3 and 12, 20A fuse 13, and 10A fuse 2 in the junction block. If the fuses are OK, the fault may be in the DRL module or the body control module

Daytime running lights not working

Assuming this is an LX, check 7.5A fuses 9 and 5 in the driver's underdash fuse/relay box. Fuse 9 applies power to the DRL indicator light in the gauge assembly which connects to the DRL control unit. Fuse 5 supplies power to the DRL control unit when the ignition is on. Also check 100A fuse 41 in the underhood fuse/relay box which supplies power to the headlight relays. Setting the headlight switch to HEAD causes the headlight relays to close and apply power through 20A fuses 45 and 43 in the underhood fuse/relay box to the low beams. Low beam power also passes through the DRL diode to close the high beam cut relay and prevent high beam use during DRL operation.

Daylight Running Lights

The Module for the DRL is most likely bad, the DRL Module is squarish in shape and Black in color and would be located in the fuse area or in the engine compartment. Just pull it straight out and purchase another one and re-install. Buying new low-beam lights will not solve the problem, because if your low-beams work when you turn on your headlights than it is not your bulbs. The DRL Module uses your low beam lights, but at a lower intensity than when it is normally on, so if your low beams work when you turn on the headlight switch than your DRL Module is bad.

Daytime running lights work but go out when I turn headlights on. Ruled out headlight switch, bulbs, fuses, relay, ground, and DRL module. 98 silverado 1500 has no high beams. headlights work with parking...

If you have daytime running lights but when you turn on your regular headlight on they do not come on. Take the bottom of your steering column off (Two Small Screws) and look at the back of your turn/dimmer switch make sure that the light blue wire is connected. The wires will break off after years of raising and lowering your steering column.

Day time running light problem

The problem with the DRL issue describd in the above posts is the DRl module(it needs to be replaced). The buzzing relay and intermittent on/off of passenger side DRl are indicators that the module needs to be replaced.

Electrical System Problems in '02 F250 Diesel

Does the truck have daytime driving lights ? Sounds like a short , maybe the switch inside the steering column . Turn signal , wiper , headlamp dimmer ,or multifuction switch . Without testing this is just a guess . Find a wiring diagram at there free , get yourself a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter an test the B+ volt into an out of the switch . moving dimmer from low to high an turning on the turn signals etc.... Suggest you watch a few videos on youtube for automotive electrical testing , how to use a wiring diagram etc.... disconnect circuits at the mutifunction switch .

Measure the resistance between multifunction switch C202a pin 44, circuit 44 (LB), harness side, and electronic flasher connector pin 1, circuit 44 (LB), harness side; and between multifunction switch C202a pin 44, circuit 44 (LB), harness side, and ground.
  • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms between the multifunction switch and the electronic flasher, and greater than 10,000 ohms between the multifunction switch and ground?

Carry out the multifunction switch component test; Refer to Wiring Diagrams Cell 149 for schematic and connector information.

  • Is the multifunction switch OK?
Yes INSTALL a new electronic flasher. TEST the system for normal operation.

No INSTALL a new multifunction switch; REFER to Section 211-05 . TEST the system for normal operation.
Testing the electrical circuits of all the system not functioning properly is how you go about finding the problem .

  1. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

    Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
    • Headlamp switch
    • Multifunction switch
    • Battery junction box (BJB) fuse 3 (30A)
    • Central junction box (CJB) fuse:
      • 5 (15A)
      • 16 (20A)
      • 26 (10A)
      • 28 (10A)
    • Wiring harness
    • Loose or corroded connections
    • Headlamp relay (if equipped)
    • DRL relay No. 2 (if equipped)
    • DRL jumper (if equipped)
    • RAP module (if equipped)
    • Central security module (if equipped)
    • Light sensor amplifier (if equipped)
    • Headlamp bulb
  1. If the concern is not visually evident, determine the symptom and proceed to the Symptom Chart.

Symptom Chart
NOTE: Refer to the Wiring Diagrams for connector numbers stated in the pinpoint test.
