Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Alero
My serpentine belt broke on my 2003 Oldsmobile Alero, I bought a new belt but now i can't figure out how to put the new one on! The engine is a 2.2 and everything works on it air, waterheater, ect. If someone could help that would be wonderful! Thanks!
Brute force - you have to pry up the tensioner pulley. The way we did it was put the belt over the alternator and A/C compressor, and get it back in place around the main bearing pulley. Then we took a bar and forced up the tensioner and slid the belt over the main bearing pulley. Voila . . .

I found this diagram from http://www.justanswer.com/car/25fmq-2002-old-alero-w-2-2l-cyl-engine-trying.html really helped me, with a breaker bar put into the little square hole (not at the center of the tensioner) you can relatively easily move the tensioner back with a counterclockwise turn.

What a pain in the Fu*****A***. I had to use a mirror. A regular socket ratchet will not fit in between the car body and the pulley. You have to use a square swivel ratchet

You should have a Belt Routing Sticker Under the Hood from Factory. If not, It is in the Back of your Owners Manual. Let me know if you still can not find it.
