Abs problems on 2004 dodge ram 1500

I have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 5.7L hemi sport 4x4 and the abs kicks in all the time when braking and will just all of a sudden cut out causing me to slam on my brakes.  The abs light was not on but I disconnected the plug from the computer under the hood so the abs will not engage. Now i have good old fashion brakes which i am fine with except I am trying to sell the truck now and the abs light and brake light is now on because I disconnected it.  I have taken it into a shop and they tried all day to figure out whats going on with it but came up with nothing.
It happened when I had to stop really hard one night because someone cut me off but still drove another 30 kms to my house without any problems.  The next morning I woke up and the brakes were all messed up pushing against my foot and making noises.  I took it in and got new rotors and brakes... apparently i warped my rotors stopping so hard although still have the problem.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix it.  I find it strange how it didn't affect it until the next day.  I don't want to take it to the dealership because they will have my buy everything under the sun.  I'd rather check out if anyone knows anything first.  Any suggestion would be great! thank you!

I've found ABS modules to start being problematic, having had the one on my 2001 Tahoe go bad. I finally got it rebuilt by a Company in Russia, Iowa, with a 5 year warranty, and it solved my problem.

They sell their service on E-Bay, and you can find their website there. Go to their website, and they will give you troubleshooting instructions.

It sure sounds like the problems I read about, and somewhat experienced.

ABS and Brake warning lights intermittent may be caused by a failing wheel speed sensor(ABS Sensor) and /or its connector. You may have one on each wheel hub(4WD) or if 2WD, a sensor may be on the rear axle differential center.

I own a 2007 dodge ram 1500 with the 5.7 hemi and automatic transmission, my auto 4x4 stays on and wont switch back to 2 wheel drive or 4x4 lock. ive only owned the truck for 2 weeks and its happened each...

The problem may be related to technical service bulletin TSB 03-001-07 which involves replacing the front axle actuator disconnect and a software update. You should be able to Google the TSB and look at the build date listed in the bulletin to determine if it applies to your vehicle.

2003 dodge ram 1500 abs & brake light came on. also cruise does not work. any suggestions

Problem: I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 L HEMI. My ABS and Parking Brake lights were illuminated, and my speedometer needle would "bounce". Also when sitting at a stop sign or just sitting idle, the engine would stall, and often times stop running.

Solution: After long research on this problem, I decided to dig in and try to find the problem myself. I replaced the Rear ABS Sensor
($35) that's located on top of the rear differential. Still no fix. I then unplugged the ABS Controller (or Module) that's located directly behind the battery (You should see the metal brake lines running into the top of it.) When I unplugged it, I noticed LOTS of moisture in the plug. Using an air hose, I blew out the water and let it dry good. When I plugged it back in, and hooked the negative battery terminal back up THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED!! Simple fix. Hope this helps.
