Question about 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1 Answer

Heat blows intermittent in 2004 grand cherokee limited.

Usually after car has been sitting or first start of the day the digital heat does not come on and is not blowing. The heated seats work though. I tap the display screen where it shows driver and passenger temperature and it will show the display and blow for a second and cut off. It may do this a couple times then finally stay on.

I've noticed with this cold weather that it's a problem only when the car is cold. I parked it in the sun for 8+ hrs and had no problems.??

Sounds like a classic blend door problem. They will start to break and exceed the sensor's travel limit, and then the controller will stop trying to move the door. There is also a known problem when the recirc door breaks, but it is less common. For more info, google "Jeep Blend Doors". For a fix, google "Heater Treater".

'98 Jeep Grand Cherokee - My Heat/AC worked intermittently for a few days and now blows only heat. Changing the Heat/AC settings doesn't change the temperature at all. It blows very hot. AC is still...

The control for the AC/Heater door isn't working. To have AC the door has to close so that the hot air is not being blown into the car. When this door is closed it allows the cool air to pass through. This is either controled by vacuum or a ele. switch

It could also be the rheostat that controls it. it's on the fan plenum under the dash. inserts into the plastic plenun.

look for Main A/C relay, look for fuses, or go to a/c shop and have gas check out, perhaps leaks, perhaps evaporator, perhaps condenser, but start for relay box on front passengers side, or fuses on same side
