Abs dash light comes on brakes work fine where before there was grinding noise when gently braking?

remember that abs stops the wheels from locking up during harsh braking.now what might have happened is that brake pads were low and finally they went down to the sensor causing the sensor to break off hence the light on . you can get the abs probbed and it may have a code to direct you to the problem.

Scrapping sounds whenever brakes beein applied

DONT drive it any more, except straight to the nearest brake shop.

Brakes can wear out in a year depending on the hardness of the pads fitted. Many are soft to prevent any squealing.

If your model has wear indicators fitted to the brakes, these will squeal or scrape when the brakes are worn.

If not, I think your brakes are possibly worn down to the metal. This has to be attended to ASAP.

The wobbling over 65mph indicates a front wheel balance is needed, and maybe an alignment. This would be fairly routine after a year of driving.

The ABS light may be a separate fault, or related to brake wear. Either way, don't ignore this. Brakes are not to be messed with.

The noises when turning left and right, in a FWD car, indicate your CV joints may be failing. The classic test is to get in a parking lot, and do slow circles at full lock, left then right, listening out the window. Clicking or grinding noises will indicate you probably need replacement front axles, about $150 parts plus labour.

Shop around.

My ABS light is on and when I hit the brakes, it makes a grinding noise and skips. It doesn't happen everytime, just randomly. Please don't tell me I have a problem with the ABS, I gathered that from the...

You have an ABS Light on

You have a grinding noise

Things aren't right when you use the brakes.

My question is---Why Are You Using It?

The dash lights have been on vehicles for 30
years, but you continue to ignore them and
drive it anyway.

They are there so you have it diagnosed and repaired.

Abs sensor light wont go off my 2005 polo

Your ABS systems use a combination of electronic and hydraulic systems to modulate the brakes individually to prevent them from locking up. ANTILOCK systems consist of wheel speed sensors, a hydraulic control unit (HCU), and an electronic control unit (ECU). Because of how complex the system is your computer does a self-test. If the check is successful, the ANTILOCK and BRAKE lights will go out within a few seconds. If one of the component of the ABS system fails to pass one or both lights will remain lit. One or both warning lights may also come on while driving, also indicating a problem. If just the ANTILOCK warning light comes on, some ABS component has failed, but the car still has hydraulic brakes. The grinding noise could the the ABS pump or your brake pads could to worn to the metal backing and grinding against the brake rotors. I recommend a inspection soon for your safety.
