Re-post 1998 buick,century not starting after alot,too much gas?

Ok broke down going down road, seemed like serpentine belt, loss of power, dimming of lights,no power at all, could do maybe 10mph and you could smell some thing like burnt rubber or hot wire smell when it was broke down, and hood was frozen when it died so next day i saw it wasnt the belt but it was the starter cylanoid was very loose from cylonoid housing,i replaced starter and battery next and it would turn over but no start,so i then replaced plugs and wires, changed oil and there was a strong smell of gas in the oil...i have chked the fule filter, pump is working right,i get spark, and i have also replaced the MAP sensor, what else should i chk to get the car to start??
*** i just replaced the altornator and it seems as thou it wants to start but only if i take out the fule pump fuse, am i getting too much gas?

Sounds like you are flooding the engine with fuel. On the fuel rail you will find a fuel pressure regulator. Try replacing that . It sounds as if the pressure g=regulator isn't working therefore allowing a lot more fuel than it should. Hope this helps you out.

My 1999 buick century started making this squealing sound when ever i hit he gas, but stops when i break, what could it be? also, when i push on the gas pedal, i hear this water gurgling type sound co

the sound is from loose belts ( poor condition belts) that slip from the acceleration. Check power steering belt, ac belt and generator drive belts of if one belt check condition and tension.

Car stalls accelerate properly

sounds like your alternator is seizing up. take of the serpentine belt and turn the alternator by hand if it sweels or don`t turn, time to replace it. easy fix if thats the case. while your belt is off check the other pullys as well.

Whining when not accelerating

Loosen and remove the Alternator belt which may be a serpentine belt and see if the whining goes away.
It could be the alternator or the water pump if it's driven by the same belt. It will go away while moving because the engine noise is usually negated by road noise etc but it's probably still there.

1998 Buick Century losses significant power at lower speeds

Possibly the EGR valve or TPS sensor if you have CEL codes. Check fuel pressure and if low change fuel filter if it is still low replace the fuel pump I beleive it is suppossed to be 41 to 47 psi. Pretty easy to replace fuel filter the Buick Century has a cover you remove in the trunk to access the fuel pump making the change very easy, if you can fit in the cramped space of the trunk.

1998 buick, century 3.1 will not start..help plz!!!

first you might possibly have a loose main ground wire, check all grounds under hood... if not that, try the alternator... you should be able to find a rebuilt one for not alot of cash...
