Fuel Pump relay, Fuel Pressure Regulator may be faulty. A relay can be tested with multi-tester, and a pressure tester for regulator.

Will the bad tach cause the injectors and fuel pump to stop .

The short answer to this is: probably not. If you have no power to the fuel pump, then you probably have no fuel pressure, and consequently no flow through the injectors. While it is possible your tachometer issue is related, what you must remember is that the tachometer actually runs through a signal from your primary igniton coil, and not from actually measuring actual engine RPM's. In other words, the tach only shows what the car's computer (or PCM) THINKS the engine speed is, based on how often the coil or coils are being fired. Additionally, the engine RPM is so low during startup (usually only 200-300 RPM) that it can often not be turning fast enough to be noticable during startup, and that's even if your vehicle is DESIGNED to show engine RPM during startup. If starter fluid temporarily got the engine to turn over, I'd say you definitely have a fuel system problem. If your issue were with your coil or tach (i.e. ignition system) then your spark plugs would not be firing, and no amount of starter fluid in the world would help. Now, that being said, your fuel pump may or may not be the issue here. Unfortunately there are quite a number or things which could cause a lack of fuel pressure, and without more information it would be a shot in the dark to pick one. But, hopefully this at least answers this question
