My 2001 ford Taurus does not have heat, or front defrost. But my back defrost works. No matter what setting it's on, it blows cold air. I can't recall it even working this past summer with ac. I just...

The back or rear defrost is an electric grid that works independently of the heater. If replacing the thermostat produced heat, you would seemed to have solved the problem but the heater blower could still be at fault. If you can't detect warm air actually blowing into your Taurus the blower is a likely suspect. A faulty blower also would affect your A/C.

How to fix no heat in 95 aurora olds. and a/c stays on with defrost on.

The A/C compressor is supposed to run in defrost mode. The only modes the compressor won't cycle is floor only and face only. This is to keep the seals in the system lubed during the winter.

If you don't have heat, check the coolant level. If the level is low you won't have heat.

there is a valve in the hot line to the heater core, it may not be opening. or you might have to disconnect the heater hoses and flush the heater core, stop leak will some times stop up core since tubes are very small

No cabin heat.. windows fogged.. engine runs cold!!

chances are the heater core is clogged and wont allow proper circulation for the heater.i would suggest getting a new one put in and see if that dosent fix it for you.

Replace the engine thermostat, it is probably stuck open.

It is located where the top radiator hose enters the engine block and is supposed to close when the engine is cold, thus prevent coolant from going to the radiator while the engine is heating up.

At engine operating temperature, it opens up, sends the coolant to the rad, and keeps the engine coolant at that constant temperature.

99% of the time, this is the culprit.

The other 1% could be a clogged/partially clogged heater core, or a busted heater core (accompanied by a coolant leak/loss over time) which fogs up the windows even more when the heater is on defrost.

Thermostat replacement is an easy, quick job and cheap.

Heater core replacement is a little bit more time/money consuming
