switch on dash can cause this but the transfer case control module is the culprit most times.try disconnecting battery this will should reset the TCM.see what happens.worst case senereo is bad transfer case
Well it could be the selector switch, but I doubt it. Generally, the service light means something is not working that the computer controls. Solenoids and valves are a couple of possibilities. The transfer case is shifted by solenoids commanded by the body computer based on the switch position on the dash. You should be able to have a shop scan the body computer for trouble codes and proceed from there. A basic code reader may not access the body computer.
if its electric shift. its probly the shifter motor. start vehicle open the door listen 4 the shifter motor. 2 see if you can hear it trying 2 shift. if not thats what it is if you can hear it tryng 2 shift it mite be vacume lines
new doesn't mean good, scan the computer for codes and use that code trouble tree.may have wires chewed into and touching from rodents check wires very closely on top of trans. not normal for the dash switch to short out either. may need to replace the contol module and reprogram hope this helps.
I have had the EXACT same problem with my 03 Chevy Tahoe!!! I have yet to find out the solution!? I cleaned all my grounds and changed my rear speed sensor along with bench tested my alternator! Have you found the problem? I would be very grateful if you could hit me back with an answer!! Thanks
I have an '03 Chevy Tahoe and I had a similar problem. I discovered that there is a bare copper striking plate or tab that the medal emergency parking brake pedal touches when the emergency brake is set. It turns on the idiot brake light in the dash. It had broken off and the light stayed on all the time with the say issue of chiming whenever the vehicle is in motion. You or the dealership must replace that striker plate to fix the problem.
Does the 4-wheel drive work ? Most of the time, it is a reminder to have your fluid changed. Other times, it could be a vacuum leak in the line that engages the 4-wheel drive. Check both of those first.
