What would cause a fuse to blow out as soon as the battery is plugged in?

If problem on wiring circuit somewhere, replacing the parts won't fix it. If fuse 17--10 amp that fuse circuit is hot all the time. You have a short. Disconnect the wiring connector from generator, does the circuit still go to ground. Instead of blowing your fuses, use a test light across the fuse terminals, if the lite comes on, the circuit is still going to ground. Some don't like to use test lite for that test, but, anyway.
Could be problem with fuse box or the wire circuit from fuse to generator. Make sure generator wire connector doesn't show any signs of heating/melting or anything.
If you think the problem is the white wire with black tracer, you might leave a pigtail wire at both ends, hopefully the pigtails are good, then splice in a new wire for testing. If that fixes it, then make the new splices permanent and route the new wire properly.

New starter and battery, and no power on a 2003 Toyota Corolla

I am not familer with this exact car but 2 things to look for, Many of the Jap cars have a main fuses. usually located near the battery, ina small fues box there will be a wire that attaches to the positive batt cable that goes to this little fues box It usually powers the IGN circut which powers the starting circut. .. on Americsan cars they use a fuseable link which is a piece of wire that burns out when a live positive wire is shorted out. in place of burning the whole wiring harness. its easy to see this problem since the wire will be burnet in half..

Being that this happened tells me that you have a short probably at or near the starter.that is blowing the fuse or burning the fuseable link. Look for this short or it will just burn out the fuse again.

MY 1991 ACURA INTEGRA 50 AMP FUSE UNDER HOOD KEEPS BLOWING OUT WITHOUT THE KEY BEING ON...... WHERE IS THE SHORT ? WHERE DO I START LOOKING/?

50amp only clue and you dont have the book, the FSM.
nor access to alldata.com?
if you did youd, not be asking right?
my guess is that fuse is in the mains box under hood..
and is a real fuse and not a circuit breaker found elsewhere....????
old car, and can be anything this old.
sounds like fuse #33 in the main box blew. and feeds the white wire main.
USA car? ABS opted? A/C opted. sure.
top cause, shorted alternator, so take off that big wire from alternator
and see if fuse blows now. (do so with battery neg lug removed
the remove alt big wire and tape it all up, so it can touch metal.
then put back battery Neg lug, and last the fuse.

the whtte feed goes vast places and runs whole sections of
the cab fuse boxes and power windows.

if the Alt is good.
then you must start dropping all white wire loads.
if it still blows, the harness is shorted.
I personally just uses a temporary circuit breaker in place of the
50 amp to find the short and an ampclamp DC ammeter.
fast.
login to alldata.com and follow the big white wire.

97 gsxr 600. My fuel pump ground wire is getting hot and melting? Is it a short to power or bad connections? Also when trying to start my starter relay clicks like fifty times and I kno i have a good...

It is most likely a short - it could be a short in the fuel pump itself strange that it is not causing a fuse to blow? The current draw may be below the limit of the fuse. A click on the starter is usually is a faulty solenoid but could be something as basic as dirty battery terminals - try cleaning them first.

Replaced horn fuse and it blew again right away this is a pontiac transport 1997 help

The fuse blows to prevent wire melting and eventual fire! If it blows straight away then there will be a short circuit somewhere in the circuit, which means the electricity is going from the battery positive to the fuse then straight back to the battery negative without any resistance. You would have to follow the wiring and test components until the fuse no longer blows. :)

99 lumina keeps blowing 5 amp starter fuse, I changed starter about 6 months ago and it quit , now it has started blowing it again. Only sometimes. Will start when I jump starter if fuse blows.it has...

Replace the starter relay in the fuse box behind the glove box. The fuse ONLY powers the control coil portion of the starter relay. If it's blowing, there's a short in the winding or a short between the relay and the theft deterrent module. Bad relay is most likely culprit

If a bulb is out will it make 15A on #2 keeps on blowing out. Changed the relay, hi/lo beam switch. Low beams still won't work. Can't keep a fuse in it cause it blows out. This is for a 2000 Sonata 4 cyl....

the only thing that causes a fuse to blow is a short. I would say a wire is pinched somewhere, the question is how to isolate and fix. I guess have a handful of fuses, since you say it is the low beams I would disconnect one light and see if it blows the fuse. I am thinking that the most excellent place to start is where the battery is installed. As a wire may have been nicked or crimped, for the low beam on the passengers side. Hope this helped
