1996 Chevy Blazer will not start

I'm unsure if it's due to the cold but my 1996 Blazer will not start. A few weeks ago my Blazer would not turn over so I had it towed into the shop. The battery was re-charged and I had the ignition coil replaced for good measure. Apparantly, the engine was getting gas. However, at this time my engine turns over but will not start. Within the past 2 months I have had the plugs replaced ( 150 Miles with stock plugs ) and the battery replaced so I'm quite dismayed as to why my Blazer wont start. I now live in Ohio after spending the lst 15 years in Colorado where I never experienced in starting problems.

Best way to diagnose is to scan for codes, but not having that I would second the ignition module suggestion, but also add to check the the crank/cam sensor.

First find out if the engine is getting spark or fuel. if the engine is not turning over or absolutely nothing is happening, find out if the starter is receiving current.

If its real cold out
i would put a battery charger on it to heat up the battery.
then if you have a block heater plug it in and warm up the motor for a cpl hours too,
when you go to start it just turn it over with out touching the gas peddle, when it starts just let it idle for a bit. then move it

I have a question for you: Is there spark present at the wires when the engine is turning over/not starting?

Sometimes on these the rotor button will burn thru and the coil will start sparking straight thru distributor. so if you pull coil wire checking for spark you would have it. but none would come out of the dist cap. this would be something to check if so the bottom of rotor will have black residue on it.let me know and we can get you going again.

    Thanks ED for the compliment

1. Dead battery if not turning over due to electrical drainage. Could be from a many number of things.
2. Fuel draining back down into tank slowly due to breach in fuel system. Could try turning the key to the on position for a few seconds then back off repeating 5 or more times before trying to turn over allowing the fuel pump to bring up the gas before trying to start.

No your ignition is a different lock but it could be keyed the same by a locksmith or possibly one could be ordered to match it from the factory based on your vehicle identification number.

I have a 2000 chevy blazer 4.3l engine\is backfiring

Start by checking each cylinder for spark with a good spark tester. A misifre is either spark or fuel, so you can cut the problem in half. The engine light is probably on due to the misfire.
