Question about 2002 Dodge Stratus

1 Answer

A/C/Heater only work and High and Heater does not blow hot air.

I have a 2000 Dodge Stratus and the AC and Heater only work on the highest setting, and when the heater is on, it blows warm air for about 3 seconds then just blows air. There was a crack in my coolant reservoir, but that has been replaced. Is this a thermostat problem? How expensive is this to fix?

I have had both of the problems, they are not connected. The A/C/Heater problem is the blower motor resistor. Easy fix. The Heater not blowing hot air was low coolant, wich turned out to be a leak.

My 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T has an issue with the AC. The heat works fine. When the AC is on it will blow cold air for a while but if I pull up to a redlight and idle for a few minutes, then it will start to...

Make sure your coolig fan(s) are running while the ac is on. I''m not sure how you now that you have sufficient refrigerant in the system, but I would also have that checked. Over filled systems can act that way too! Last but not least, high and low pressure switches should be checked, amd if all else fails, check the expansion valve.

Heater only blows cold air in my Dodge stratus 2.4 but air conditioner works. I plan to change my thermostate going to my motor. I hope there's only one to change, and not another for the heater itself....

Put your gloved hand on the radiator in the front of your car - if it is hot - then the water in your heater core will be hot. If it is hot in the radiator - and not in the heater core - make sure your water level is up to the top in the radiator itself. 2 - make sure the 'heater' switch inside the car is working. 3 - look under the hood for a shut off valve - after market as some people put these on to make the ac colder on cars that begin to go bad.

Chances are you're low on water in the front radiator -

Also a simple check which is cheap should be done by your regular mechanic. If you don't have a professional Mechanic - get one.

The heater in my 2004 dodge stratus doesn't blow out hot air while idling, but it does when driving. Could this be the thermostat?

Most of the time this (no heat at idle/heat when driving) is an indication of low radiator fluid. Check the fluid level while the engine is cold and on with the heater on high.
