I'm guessing the car started the night it was installed, because the battery was inside a store/garage w/ heat, so the battery was warm when u started the car. How cold are we talking? Batteries lose a lot of power output in the extreme cold. When u turn the key, the engine not even cranking over? Do u hear a clicking sound, do the dash lights go on when u turn the key? Everything must be operating at peak efficiency to start a car in extreme cold, so make sure engine is tuned, filters replaced at regular intervals, etc. Make sure u are using the proper weight engine oil, as too heavy a weight makes it more difficult to crank the engine over. U might want to invest in a heater of some type, such as a battery heater, oil dipstick heater, radiator heater, etc. If u keep the battery warm, it'll crank the engine over better, if the oil is warm, that also helps (cold oil is like molasses, very thick).

I agree with the above comments. If you are in an extremely cold area, some sort of engine heater will greatly improve your chances of getting this car started every time it is needed.

The key turn but the car dont start, but when i kick start it it start and i wont have a problem the hole day starting only in the morning

The battery needs to be replaced. After the first start in the morning the battery gets charged and the engine is also "hot" making it easier for the starter motor to turn it over. Therefor less current is drawn from the battery and you get a start every time. In the morning the engine is cold making it difficult to turn. The battery rested the night loosing some charge and is also cold which affects the current it can deliver at that stage. With the cold engine it is not able to turn it fast enough to get it started. A new battery will solve your problem.

Could my battery be frozen? Do I need a new battery?

Your battery is not frozen. In cold weather, a weak battery--one that needs to be replaced--may not work. The cold makes an already weak battery even weaker.

98 astro awd doesnt like to start in real cold weather (-18C) otherwise runs fine

I have a 98 and we just had a cold snap where it was super cold and I didn't start it for about a week. I had just got a new battery because mine tested out bad. Everything was good but now it doesn't want to get fuel. Cleaned all battery and relay connections and it's turning over great and fires with starting fluid but won't start. Guy at Napa said the fuel pump on these are known to not work well in the cold and suggested to warm the tank. I'm parked outside and can't move it to get it inside somewhere. Anyone know of good solution to this fuel pump not working in cold temps issue?

Car wont start. power to accessories. wont turn over. wont even click. new battery ad new starter. any ideas?

Hello,
If you not even have a click this narrows it down to only a couple of areas. Most likely it is a ground issue. I for sure would really check your cable and connection from your battery. The hot lead and more importantly the ground that goes to the frame. If it is not clean and grounded real good, you will not even get a click. if you turn key on and hear nothing, it is for sure the connections from battery to ignition. Now, if you can turn on head lights and all that, that mean your getting power to your ignintion and battery is good, now what this means is the connections from your starter that go to the battery are not good. Check those real good. I am almost positive this is going to be a connection problem of starter and battery. keep me posted MIke

Time for a new battery. Most places will test your battery for free. Expect to pay about $100.00 for a new battery for your truck.

HAVE A 1996 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. EACH YEAR ABOUT DEC WHEN ITS REAL COLD SNAP JEEP WONT START AND LIGHTS ARE WEAK AND HAVE TO JUMP IT WITH PACK TO START.THEN RIDE AROUND TO CHARGE BATTERY AND WHEN COME TO...

Next time you replace your battery you need to find one with more cold cranking amps. It is much harder for the battery to produce the voltage needed in the cold. Batteries produce their peak amperage when new which may explain why you have no problems for a year.

My 85 silverado was doing the same thing last week. After a few days of that B.S. I ended up replacing the fuel pump and filter and she's been running great since,

PS. The fuel filter is located at the carburator.
