Vw clutch cable swap

Someone recently hit my 98 Jetta, and totaled it out. So before the junk yard could get my car, I went and bout a 94 Golf to put my parts on. The Clutch cable worked in the Jetta, and the one on the Golf I was told was bad.... It caught gears, just took its precious time.... long story short... I swaped them over, and now it want catch a gear at all...when I push the clutch pedal in, its doing what its suposed to be doing... I can hear the gears switching, and the only thing I didn't put on was a little weight looking thing that was on the bottom of the black rubber piece.???? Because this wasn't on the Jetta only on the Golf.... It was tooo cold and dark to put it on....would that be my problem?? somebody please help me.... Im lost at this point!!!

You have to puth that steel square on! one day very soon you will be driving down the road go to engage ur clutch and it bores through the rubber grommet peice and you have to scour the planet for it. save yourself some pain. put it on. it may even solve your problem now while preventing you from more.

First how much play is in the pedal before is gets tight? If there is more the 1/2" are clutch is not releasing from the pressure plate and flywheel. If it is good the trouble maybe the pressure plate. The springs can become bad and one side will not let the pressure plate and flywheel to disengage. The later is may bet what is the problem and why they sold the car. Hope it helps

The lower part inside the seat back is a rubber loop. Just push the rubber loop off the stud and pull the button out. These are so easy to remove. Junk yard might just give them to you (if not, they are probably only $1).

I have a 96 vw jetta and i cannot find the safety neutral switch

My 98 Golf (manual trans) doesn't start during hot weather; are you possiibly talking about what is also referred to as the 'clutch switch'? (makes it so clutch pedal must be pushed in to start car) If so, I understand it's under the clutch pedal... looking to purchase switch now, so this is about all I know for now. Hope this helps...

I have a 1989 VW Golf 4 door with the 1.8 L engine. The starter has gone out. A local junk yard in Germany does not have one for the 1.8 L. Is the starter that fits the 1.3 L or the 1.6 L engine able to...

If your engine code is RP then it will not fit.You can try searching for a VW Transporter scirocco seat cordova 1.8 corrado Passat III 1,8 or Jetta 1.8 .Here are the original part numbers of the starters that will fit the 1.8 golf.

Will a 1996 VW jetta tranny match up with 1989-88 volkswagen jetta

Yes. You'll need to swap your old speedo cable and the back up light switch is different. Also the 96 transmission uses the same clutch disc as the MK2 16v, which is different from the 8v disc, it's the number of splines on the input shaft. I'm putting a 95 Jetta 5 speed into my 1986 Scirocco. Make sure you replace the throw out bearing and the clutch rod seal and bushing in the end of the input shaft.
