Question about 1992 Honda Accord

1 Answer

My daughter was driving a 1992 Honda Accord EX with a little over 160,000 miles this evening when she heard a clicking sound. She said it sounded like the car began to drag something on the pavement. She pulled over and the car stopped. I tried to start and jump start the car with no luck; the car turned over, but would not start. Any suggestions?

Honda accord ex 2001 check engine light suddenly came on, car started to idle roughly

If it's running rough, chances are that it's misfiring. If the Check Engine light is flashing/blinking, it is definitely misfiring.
If that's the case, drive it as little as possible... Or straight to the mechanic because the more you drive it while it's misfiring, the higher the chance is of you ruining your catalytic converter.

I have a 92 honda accord ex my transmission fluid is almost a pink color i drained the fluids out because it was over filled . after going 30 miles my car does not want to accelerate now the car doesnt...

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Sounds like you may have drained out to much fluid. You need to make sure that it is full because it will do this if it is not. If you are driving on little fluid, it can mess the transmission up. I would recheck the fluid. Make sure you check it on a level lot.

I just want to see what the best oil type is for a 1992 Honda Accord EX that I just purchased. It has high miles 220,000 so I just want to make sure that when the time comes that I have the best oil in it.

THE BEST ALL AROUND OIL TO USE IS 10W30W, DON'T USE ANY HEAVIER OR YOU CAN DAMAGE THE ROD AND CRANK BEARINGS, ANY MAJOR BRAND, I LIKE VALVOLINE, HAVE USED IT FOR 40 YEARS, NEVER HAD AN ENGINE FAIL, AND I DRIVE VERY HARD..

My 1992 Honda Accord EX-R makes a clunking/rattling sound...

It's probably your cv (constant velocity) joint. Jack up the honda and put it on safety stands, look at the area behind the center of both front wheels, there is a rubber boot. This boot protects the cv joint from dirt, road grime, water, salt, etc. If you see splits in it or grease on the boot, it has deteriorated, and is letting contaniments in. The damage has already been done if it makes a rattling noise going around corners at slow speed. I changed both cv joints (purchased rebuilt axles for $49 each) in my 92, but it is a big job labor wise. There's a lot to take apart to remove the axles.

I have a 2008 Honda LXP purchased Novemebr 2008. It has 21000 miles on the clock. From and since 15,000 miles I heard a grinding sound when I applied the brakes after the car was stationary for over 10...

from my experience its sounds like ur front rotors may need resurfaceing...if ur doing that...may as well replace the brakes on the front as well...sometimes glazed front brake pads may make a sound but never heard of it as a grind, usually its a squeal...have ur dealer check ur rotors for hot spots in which u would need them replaced if they are overheated..also check the front pads for cracked brake pad material
