Where is the fuel filter on a 2005 chevy malibu, 4 cylinder

  • Remove the gas cap to relieve pressure in the tank. Lift the hood and locate the fuse panel on the driver's side. Remove the fuel pump fuse. Turn the ignition and attempt to start the car; if it runs, allow it to stall. Turn off the ignition. Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
  • 2 Locate the fuel filter beneath the car between the rear axle and the gas tank. Remove the protective plastic cover with a screwdriver.
  • 3 Remove the carriage bolt securing the filter to the frame. Detach the inlet and outlet fuel line fittings with an open-end wrench. Fuel may spill as you turn the nuts, so have rags or a small container ready.
  • 4 Insert the new filter and secure the fuel lines and carriage bolt. Reattach the plastic cover.
  • 5 Replace the fuel filter fuse, negative battery terminal and gas cap. Close the hood and turn the ignition on. Allow the car to idle for a few minutes while the new filter fills with gasoline.

My 2001 Impala ignition won't turn when I insert the key. How do I replace the tumbler?

  • Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench. Wait a few minutes before starting work to allow any current to dissipate. Set the parking brake.
  • 2 Tilt the steering wheel down to the lowest position. Move the gear shift lever to first gear. Leave the key in the ignition. Remove the lower under dash panel plastic clips and screws with a screwdriver. Lift the lower panel upward and remove the upper clips. Disconnect any electrical connections and remove the lower trim panel from the work area. Move the gear shift lever to the Park position and turn the key off.
  • 3 Remove the bolts from the knee bolster plate with a socket wrench and remove the plate from the work area. Remove the two ignition switch bolts using a socket wrench. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the ignition switch.
  • 4 Install the new ignition switch using the retaining bolts and tighten with a socket wrench. Connect the electrical connector. Install the knee bolster plate and bolts using a socket wrench. Turn the ignition on and move the gear lever to first gear.
  • 5 Connect any electrical connections to the lower trim panel. Install the lower trim panel using the upper clips. Install the bottom screws with a screwdriver and insert the plastic clips. Shift the gear lever into Park and return the steering wheel to its normal operating position. Connect the negative battery cable with an adjustable wrench and close the hood. Release the parking brake. Start the engine to make sure the new ignition switch is operating properly.

How to replace ignition coil on ford focus wagon se

    p, li { white-space: pre-wrap; }
    Things You'll Need:

    Adjustable wrench
    Philips screwdriver
    Paper clip
    Ignition switch
    Follow this simple steps

Open the hood and disconnect the cable from the negative terminal on the battery by loosening it with an adjustable wrench in a counterclockwise direction. Lift the cable off of the terminal and push it aside. Remove the plastic trim covers on the steering column from inside the passenger compartment by turning out the holding screws on the underside of the column with a Philips screwdriver in a counterclockwise direction. Set the trim covers and screws aside. Insert the key into the ignition switch and turn it to the ON position.
Straighten out a paper clip and insert one end of it into the hole on the side of the ignition cylinder facing the driver. Pull the ignition cylinder out towards the left hand side of the car once the paper clip releases the pin that holds the cylinder in place. Remove the key from the old cylinder and place it into the new ignition switch. Push the switch assembly into the cavity that the old switch was removed from until it locks into place. Turn the key to the OFF position and remove it if desired.

Replace the plastic trim covers and tighten the holding screws in a clockwise direction with a Philips screwdriver.
Place the battery cable back onto the negative battery terminal and tighten it with an adjustable wrench in a clockwise direction. Close the hood.

Engine won't turn over on 1992 ford ranger

Check starter for 12 volts while trying to start, if 12 volts is present replace the starter, if not check the starter relay, starter fuse, and ignition control module.

In the meantime, turn the key to the on position and grab a screwdriver with a rubber handle. Open the hood and find your starter solenoid (located on the starter). Touch the 2 terminals on the starter solenoid together using the screwdriver. Be cautious to prevent damage to your starter or to yourself.

If starter still doesn't turn over, check and replace your battery.

Starter won't engage or turn over

its the silonoid that bolts to the starter.the brushes inside the silonoid are not making good enough contact with the copper probe inside. solution buy a new starter or check the voltage going to the starter by checking the hot from the battery and the hot going from the starter to the alternator.
