Question about 1995 Chevrolet Cavalier

2 Answers

Friend cracked the heads on his 2.2l chevy cavalier.

Put everything back togethor, car will run but gas shoots out the no.4 spark plug. pipe doped that spark plug and now gas is shooting out the valve cover. is this most likely the fuel regulator or is the new head bad? he purchased it from a junk yard. and could the spark plug wires being installed in the wrong order cause this?

I just bought a 96 chevy cavalier with 218000 miles on it all the indicator lights on the instrument panel stay on. It has a hard time starting and when running is misfiring and smells like gas bad

Check for bad spark plug cables and check all the plugs. Take out spark plug cable one by one and crank engine to check if there is spark or not. Before you head over replacing expensive items in this car get a compression check by mechanic for each cylinder. For a car this old and so much miles on it, most probably it needs an engine rebuild.

How to instal coil pack 3.1 multiport fi v6 1993 chevy cavalier

Are you sure it's the coil pack. I need more info do you have a check light if so go Auto Z or Advanced A or any big box auto parts store and ask them to plug your car in and get code for problem. I'm bettering your problem is not a coil Pak. It has no moving parts it just sits their practicing Tesala's law of induction, more like you have a bad spark plug cable, dirty fuel injector, bad spark plug or all 3. FYI a Fuel Injector is like an eletronic- solenoid operated Windex sprayer. It shoots a fine mist into the cylinder for ignition. If the Windex bottle (injector) spray nozzle gets clogged up and dribbles instead of misting it causes poor combustion and can shut you car down, go find a bottle of SEAFOAM injector cleaner an poor it in you gas when your down 1/4 tank then run it out of gas (just kidding) go as low as you can go. To check spark plug wires, get an empty Windex bottle, fill with h2o and go to a dark place and spray cables. You may see a little lightning storm or your engine may stttttuter. Good luck ,PS cleaning you injectors every 3k is not a bad idea due to the age of you vehicle, good luck Bret PS driving a97 Buick mysel I know what older cars can do

When I was changing the spark plugs in a 2006 Chevy Cobalt, I was putting in the no. 1 spark plug and antifreeeze started to come out. It appeared to be coming out at the top of the spark plug hole...

You have a blown head gasket or cracked head. Have the head pulled and look for gasket breaks. If no gasket breaks, have the head tested for cracks. If good, also check for surface warping and reinstall with new gasket. let us know if you need more help.

90 Chevy K2500 burning water (white smoke out tail pipe) and going through coolant(water) like crazy. it sputters almost every time I push on the gas. smoke is also coming from the head exhaust.

Hi: It sounds like you have a Blown Head Gasket or a Cracked Head. But I would bet that its the Head Gasket.Do this Test on your Engine. Remove all the Spark Plugs and Probally should Mark the Wires as you pull them off each Plug..FILL the Radiator ALL the way; Get your buddy or someone to Turn the Key Like Trying to Start it. You need to be Watching where the Plugs came out and Look to See if Your Getting Water And Coolant Out of Any of the Spark Plug Holes. This will Comfirm you have a Blown Head Gasket. Do Both Sides on Both Heads .Also have your Heads Magnafluxed, And Have Them Checked for Warpage.Hope this helped you. Please Reply so I'll know what you found. Vote For my Solutions. 1990 Chevy cavalier is only running on 2 cylinders, My husband changed the spark plug wires and the coil case with no change to cylinders what could the problem be. It is a 4 cylinder and the engine is 1.8

well first you need to perform a compression test, this will tell you right up front of you have major engine trouble be it head gasket, camshaft, cylinder rings etc. First things first what do the spark plugs look like after it has benn running for a while??

1996 Chevy Cavalier blown head gasket

Pull the spark plugs out and see if they have a brown tint to them and smell funny. You can tell a lot by the spark plugs. That could tell you if you're getting anti freeze in your cylinders. These engines are bad about head gaskets and cracked heads. To replace the head gasket you're probably looking at about 480.00 labor and about 200.00 in parts and machine work, unless the head is cracked, then you're looking at more money.

92' Cavalier 2.2L 4 cyl. runs but has a miss coming from #4 cyl.

Matter not whether plug fires out of engine. Put it back in and clamp a timing ligh to it. If the light won't fire, you don't have enough spark to fire cylinder, hense miss.
