Problems with 2000 pontiac grand am

If it is a 2000 model and running rough, the check engine light should be on. If it is, you need to get the computer scanned to point you in the right direction to troubleshoot the problem or problems.
A mechanic would look at that and find out which cylinder is missing.

I replaced the timing chain in a 2005 potiac sunfire with a 2.2 and now it run rough but runs fin going down the road but idling it run rough and sometimes will die

if the car ran fine befor you changed the timing chain you may have the cam timing off by one tooth retarted. Being the PCM controls the timing advance . The engine smooths out at higher speeds .Start back tracking and looking at the simple stuff . but you may have to pull the timing housing again to check the timing marks on the cam and the crank

Car is quiting while going down road

Have you ever replaced the ignition coil? Sometimes a coil will heat up and break apart inside losing your connection/charge inside it to fire your plugs.

1995 Grand Am idles rough

sound very much like you have an air leak problem and even a seal problem to on the intake manifold and injector seals may be leaking same happend to me on my car and i found i had to strip it all again to sort it out .
the injector seals if they are not sitting right or just a slight spec of dirt there you have a problem.
air leaks to see if you do have one use wd40 can spray on the manifold and if the engine picks up you have a leak ok
i hope this helps
let me know how you go on thanks
