Where is the oil sending unit on a 1999 Dodge Intrepid?

Location of oil sending unit on a 1999 Dodge Intrepid. Oil light stays on and I need to change this unit to see if that is the problem or the oil pump. Thanks

Oil sensor failure, flickers at idle and at higher rpm light goes off. Have had the sensor replaced 3 times. Want to do it my self. Where is the sensor located? Some say right side and some say left side of engine 2.7 L 1999 Intrepid.

Oil light is on oil level is ok

This means that the oil pressure is low or the oil pressure sending unit is bad. Usually the oil sending unit is bad. They go out often, so I would start with having the oil pressure sending unit replaced. It is not expensive, usually and could correct the problem without expensive work. As always if the oil has not been changed regularly then change it and that may turn the light out too. Good luck and have a nice evening. Peter

1997 dodge intrepid the oil light stays on been on for months no bad engine noises and the level is ok

You need to replace the oil pressure sending sensor but I'd have the actual oil pressure checked to be sure the oil pressure is'nt low as that could cause severe damage. I assume your oil level is correct and the oil isn't "foamy" or "milky" looking on the dipstick.

I have 2003 dodge intrepid with 2.7. the oil light is on and its making a tapping noise. the oil is full and was just changed when i hit the accelerator the tapping goes away but the light stays on.... can...

If you can perform this then i would remove the oil sending unit and install a temporary mechanical gauge and start motor so i could see the true oil pressure. The oil pressure swich is just that, the oil pump sucks oil from the oil pan and pushes the oil to respective lubricating ports, this push is the pressure. the oil sending unit is in a port that when the push of oil enters the sending unit it puts pressure on switch which activates a on off switch more or less. light on/ light off. When this switch is not recieving the proper pressure to activate, the light will be on. NOW IF IT WASNT FOR THE TAPPING NOISE i would have told you to replace the "OIL SENDING UNIT" but now with the tapping noise i believe you have low oil pressure. I have to do some research as i'm not sure what drives that oil pump. No oil pressure will sure lead to internal engine failure. i would not run or drive this car untill you diagnose for sure on oil distribution and pressure. taking a chance is exactly that, at least at this time it is minimal repair cost and damage, let it go or take that gamble i'm sure you know it breaks the bank. !!! I"m sorry this has happened to you. I personally know this feeling.

Low oil pressure lite is on at low rpms- bad oil pump?

Either it is low oil pressure or the sending unit itself. I'm guessing it is the sending unit that is giving false readings.

My oil light keeps coming on in my car, but when I check the oil it's full.

Could be a faulty oil sending unit, which is usually located by the oil filter, a weak oil pump, or just needs a good old oil and filter change.

The oil light in my 1999 Dodge Intrepid keeps coming on. I have changed the oil in the last month. The light only seems to be coming on when I brake.

If its a 2.7L they tend to do this, use a good 5w30 oil
maybe an oil additive. or change oil sending unit.

oil light coming on hey....will instead of having the oil changed, it might be something as simple as having the level checked...the quick lube places sometimes don't do the oil change right....i've heard horror check the level...if good, then i would be checking underneath for a leak at the oil pressure sending unit......if good, then replacle doesn't sound like anything major....

the flickering oil light is a common problem with the 2.7 engine. as long as the oil level is full and oil is changed regularly, and the light just flickers and doesnt stay on , shouldnt be a problem, or get the oil sending unit changed. the second problem car stallings sounds like either cam or crank position sensor. does the engine light come on. if so the code should tell you.
