SOURCE: CLEANING THE MAF SENSOR ON MY '99 INTRIGUE

You don't clean them, you get a new one. Usually if it's the MAF, it'll start and die, start and die. If your's is stalling, it'll be the idle air control valve, or the fuel filter, or the idle control system, or a vacuum leak at the intake or vacuum hoses. Good luck.

Replacing plugs and wires is the correct soultion for a p0341 on an S-car. However the trans shifting hard is another common problem that the s-cars have which is your valve body on your transmission and the Input shaft nut will eventually need to be replaced as the problem will get worse. as far as the Ignition module. It is actually called an Ignition Control Module. Maybe they were saying controller and referring to that. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: the asr light is on and the car does not

the o2 senser would not cause the a.s.r. light to come on-there is only 2 things that the engine module and the a.s.r. module have in common. 1 is the e.a. actuater(throttle) and 2 is the base module. most likley either your acuater has to be resynchronized or the actuater itself is bad. have codes pulled from your h.f.m.,a.s.r.,e.a-i.s.c.-c.c modules and see what the codes say. You will probably find that they say e.a. actuater module is defective. the pig tail connecters go bad and they need to be replaced just be glad you do not have a 600 series because they cost about 1200 a piece and the v12 have 2 of them. If it is defective and you cannot resynchronize it there is a company that rebuilds them for about 1/3 the cost of a new one- good luck

SOURCE: I HAVE ALTIMA 99 AND MECHANIC CAN'T FIGURE OUT

He's right both and the code is the EGR valve. The car won't run with the EGR valve removed but it may be disabled some way. Most of the time EGR vales leak or the senser line stopps up. There's a small medal ine coming up the the EGR senser from the exhaust and connects to the senser this line stops up and the senser knows something aught to be happing and it doesn't so it turns the light on. Your mechanic is right it's not hurting anything but it makes the light on. It can be fixed but it'll not run much different.

I HAVE A CODE PO174 ON MITSUBISHI MONTERO SPORT 2003

Here's a link to the issues associated with a P0174 code:
http://engine-codes.com/p0174_mitsubishi.html

There's a bit of a punch list of stuff that could be causing this code. If you have never changed the O2 sensors on this car that is where I would start; replace all of them. Get OEM exact replacements versus "universal" fit O2 sensors.
The Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) may be dirty. There is specially formulated cleaner for removing any built up mung on the sensor.
The PCV system can be checked for proper flow. Replace the PCV and/or clean the system if there is no valve.
Bring the car in and have the injectors professionally cleaned.

You're probably in the neighborhood of 165-170K. If you've never done any preventive or regular maintenance then there could be a lot of issues with your car. The P0174 is a lean condition. It could be bogus inputs to the engine management computer (via bad O2 sensors and/or a dirty or bogus MAF sensor). It could be really dirty injectors because they've never been cleaned and if you've been filling up with non-top tier fuel (because you're saving 2 cents a gallon) then it's a sure bet the injectors are dirty. Running lean comes from air leaks into the manifold post MAF sensor. This could be from rotted vacuum hoses or cracked/broken vacuum fittings. There's just too many possibilities to be able to nail it down for sure. Use the link and the info there to start your trouble shooting.

1991 chevy lumina euro 3.1 bogs down at low rpms

do you have a MAF, mass air flow sensor ? it should be located right after the air cleaner filter before the throttle body . I have a 1987 buick grand national & it was running like yours, I ran into a mechanic online who sum it up with a detailed report, bottom line, REPLACE YOUR MAF !!!!!!!!!!!!! after doing things like you did, replacing everything but, the MAF was EXACTLY what It needed !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I took my car to have it checked at Autozone. The results were OEM Number to Cross: P0102. What is wrong with my car?

P0102 refers to the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. It may be dirty, faulty, or have a bad connection. Possible remedies are:

  • Verify that the Mass Air Flow Sensor wiring is connected properly and that there are no broken / frayed wires.
  • Inspect for any air leaks near the MAF sensor.
  • Take the MAF out and clean it using a spray cleaner such as brake cleaner or electrical contact cleaner. Be gentle with the sensor.
  • Check the voltage of the MAF sensor (refer to a repair manual for vehicle specific information)
  • Replace the MAF sensor.

I have a 2000 dodge durango with the error code P0171. It runs a little rough at idle and if I gun it it will blow smoke. It also is getting really bad fuel mileage, about 8 mpg no matter what speed I am...

There are a few things this could be. The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filtersmag-glass_10x10.gif may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.

There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor also.

First simply try cleaning the MAF sensor does the trick. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling . Then Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace if necessary Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure

the MAF sensor wold make since there is a small wire inside of your intake that is the MAF sensor if it gets a lot of dust or anything on it it could make your car run like that.you can find the sensor by finding the plug and weirs sticking out of your intake tube. if you take it apart and clean the wire you could see results.

Stalling can be caused by the MAF sensor. Cleaning is the first thing I do. MAF cleaner is available at Parts stores for $8-10? That's a lot cheaper than a sensor. Spray it, let it soak, repeat, repeat...
If it's really dirty, it'll be a small black lump. When clean it gets nice and shiny. It is NOT recommended to use a brush. A brush can easily damage the very, very fine wire.

Rough runnin jetta

Try disconnecting the MAF sensor, if the problem clears either clean the MAF with brake clean or replace it, whichever works.
