Question about 1991 Dodge Caravan

We are trying to locate the oil pump on our 1991 Dodge Caravan - 3.3 V6. Indicators seem to show that it has gone bad.

Sorry did not see the engine info before
You need to remove the oil pan to get to the oil pump
once pan is off you will see a tube with a screen that's the oil pump pick up tube, the pump is on the end of the tube.

your on the right track it most likely is the water pump, the pump is behind the timing cover on the 3.0L V6 you have to remove the cover and the timing belt in order to replace the pump....HAVE FUN

Oil pump ,,,where is the oil pump located on a 1997 dodge caravan

Oil pump is located on the oil pan.
Parts needed,,,oil,,,, oil filter,,,, oil pan gasket,,, oil pump,,,, oil pump pickup tube..
time to do this,, about 3 hours
Instructions,
Raise van place on 2 jack stands
drain oil remove oil filter fill new filter install.
remove bolts from oil pan,
remove oil pan..
remove 2 bolts that hold oil pump and tube.

install new pump and tube tork bolts to 45 fp
replace oil pan gasket and install oil pan
tork pan bolts to 35" pounds
install drain plug
fill with oil
start and check for leaks

Firing Order:

1-2-3-4-5-6
Cylinders:
(back of vehicle)
1--------3--------5
2--------4--------6
(front of vehicle)
Ignition Coil:
(back)
6---3
4---1
2---5

My check engine light comes on intermittently and when i stop the oil light comes on and dings I am told this could be an oil pump - how hard is this to fix on my vehicle - Dodge Grand Caravan 2000 3.8L V6


yes this is true it could be a oil pump but first check the oil level first. most oil pumps are inside the oil pan. and most pans can only be taking off by lifting motor up or the exagust off

I have a 1991 dodge caravan with the 3.3 engine, i just replaced the water pump and need the diagram to put the belt back on, and how to tighten it.


From 1991-1995 the same belt is used. Here is the diagram and also the tension you can locate it for tightening adjustment. bdfe331.jpgd9fe295.jpg

Keep checking those Fluids. it sounds a lot like your Oil pump is taking a Slow Death March. At some point you will need to replace it.
