Over reving on gear change

I have a 2000 focus 1.6 lx, it has started to over rev when i change down the gears, i have replaved the tpo,and accelerator cable ,removed and cleaned the idler, but it still persists has anyone got any idea what else would cause this

Need to do a diagnostic ,but you could have an air leak on the manifold,but if you did then it would race on idle,try looking at the air flow control valve.If you cant find the fault then take the car to a dealer to fault find it as you might evan have a problem with the ECU and it needs re-programming.Its all very well someone saying this or that but these parts are not cheap and if its not diagnosed properly then its cost you more than going to dealer.

I would get a transmission service oil change a clean and flush sometimes debris build up if the trans is slipping you may need an overhaul

I assume this is manual gearbox? if so you need to replace the clutch.

Hard shift from first to second gear


if its an auto the chances are that the kickdown is to high and needs adjusting, basically the engine is reving to high betwen gear changes

2000 suzuki jimny transmission not moving in gear engin reve up


Hi, my car does not change gear during driving. I am told the transmission is stuck in 3rd gear. Even when taking off from a complete stop, I have to rev the engine before the car moves. Sometimes after a long drive the engine would switch off and only start after a 10 minute break. What could be the problem?

Focus 1.4 zetec idle tickover is about 2000rpm


sensor problem,without the right equipment it will be cheaper to put it in the dealers

Revs to high


Try changing your idle control valve or stepper motor which is the same thing.try cleaning it first before buying a new one,this could be done with caburetter cleaner, let dry before replacing,hope this is helping ty.
