Question about 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 2WD

1 Answer

Heat comes out of dash vents. When I switch to floor vents, heat still just comes pout of Dash vents and not floor vents.

I can move control from dash vents to floor, to front windshield but air/heat only comes out of dash vents. Why cant I adjust the the flow to another area of the truck?

SOURCE: There is no air flow

You need part GM Part number 89018675 or ACDelco 15-73596. The Mode Selector Actuator. What happens is the part is a CHEAP part POORLY designed and when it goes to turn the flaps inside the HVAC unit its the plastic gear slips instead of turning the flap!!!

Just to forward you you might want a deal to install this art for you unless your good at fixing your own vehicle, because you need SMALL sockets and a lot of patience to get this part in!!!

The part is ALMOST directly above the steering shaft for your steering wheel, so theres a lot you got to remove before you will even see them!!!

I only recommend you to have a dealer put this part in for you, unless you have your own service manual!!

Because there is 5 of these darn things and if you pick the wrong one you will have to do it all over again!!!

3 on the Drivers side and 2 on the Passengers side!!

But replacing this part SHOULD solve all your problems!! AS it did for me and i was having the same issues as you have described!!

The door in the heater box is most likely stuck. It is located under the dash on the passenger side

SOURCE: Front windshield defroster not engaging on 1999 - 1500 Silverado

i just went thru this problem with my 95 1500. on mine it was the controls just like you discribe on yours one for fan one for temp and one for settings.first i thought it was the heater blend door acturator. its located on left side of heater next to the gas peddel. pulled the wire plug out and test for power theres 3 wires to this plug one white one brown and one black. the brown wire was hot with key on the black is ground and the white is the one that sends a siginal to this electric motor witch redirects air flow from floor to dash vents to defrost. i had to order the controls thru autozone 135.00 with shipping. you might get lucky and find one at a bone yard the ones in my area dident have any. i almost bet you will find thats your problem too. good luck OLD SCHOOL.

SOURCE: 2003 Chevy trailblazer, the 4 front dash air

{: ) Check first the fuse labeled HVAC1 10A at the rear fuseblock. If okay, the mode actuator could be faulty. You can try this: turn ignition switch and a/c off for a minute. Then turn ignition on, wait forty seconds. Afterwards, start the engine, and check your a/c again.

K104 kenworth. Heater/AC air only comes out of face vents. How can I make it come from floor or screen ect. Switch on dash is there and moves. Where's next to check.

check for a fuse for that control switch if it controls power
it may be a switch that moves valves to allow air to the vent actuators check for air line connections
talk with a kenworth service centre.

My 2012 Chevy Traverse will only blow on the floor not upper vents or defrost.

the flipper in the dash won't change it to the other vents. maybe worn out. vents could be plugged. there should be something inside your dash that when you press the button or change the setting on the heat diverter it should switch from vent or floor. it's plastic and wears down or maybe jumped the flipper thing to move the heat thru the vent system

My 2001 deawoo laganza has no heat and when you try to switch vents, the control knob moves, but will not switch to floor or defrost, just blows out front vents.

Your control doors under the dash are not operating. Don't know if they are cable operated or vacuum operated. You have to get under the dash to find the problem, and maybe pull out your control assembly on the dash to see the problem. Sorry, not much help.

My 2007 Tahoe will not blow heat out of floor vent or defroster

Under your dash you have a motor that moves a door that will change the air flow from defrost,to vent ,to the floor mode. This is not functioning properly. I am not real familiar with this late of a model, but you have either a bad bad vacuum switch, bad electric motor or bad controls on your dash.Hope this helps

1992 chevy g20 van ... AC blows through the lower ducts but not the mail cabin vents. What do I look for to fix this?

Behind the dash, when you throw the lever to change which vents you want air to come through, it can sometimes "slip" over little plastic gears/levers which flip the ductwork to different vents such as floor to the dash vents or defrost. look up from under the dash to see if the vent control switch is actually moving anything underthere.

The Heater selector won't change from defrost to any other settings like floor heat or straight from the dash . the switch on the dash moves but the heat only comes from the defrost vents in the dashboard

hello, sounds like the cable broke or, lots of newer veichels use air lines, any way possible, check and see if air lines are still hooked up to the back of the heater controls, should be 4or 5 air lines together, all hook on one place behind heater controlls

Dash air flow problem

This could be a couple of different things. It could be the control head itself, an actuator inside the dash, or the blend door, or the blend door motor itself. The first thing I would do is turn the air on, put my ear close to a vent and move the switches on the control from floor to dash to vent. if you can hear any clicking at all you know it is not the control head. In that case, you mnay have to take the dash apart to go any further, and if youve never done this before I would not recommend it.
