SOURCE: show me a diagram where a transmission control

Your transmission is controlled b the same module that controls your engine. It is called the "Powertrain Control Module" It is located in the front passenger floor board. Pull the carpet back from under the dash on the passenger side and you will see it.

Part number for transmission control module/1999v6cougar

There is a HUGE difference between a "control module" and a "transmission range sensor". Your vehicle is not even equipped with a trnsmission control module. The transmission is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). There are lots of things under the battery area that have an effect on transmission shift - especially when it is considered that the entire transmission is under the battery area....

With that said, the OEM part number for the transmission range sensor on a 1999 Mercury Cougar is 6L8Z-7F283-AA.

Why won't my 1990 acura integra go over 4000 rpm?

Could be fuel filter. This will restrict a lot. If it is automatic it might be your transmission control module. Your check engine light should be coming on if it's not already.
