This happened on my '05 2500 Dodge diesel last winter.After spending a full day checking wiring,fuses,relays and the headlight switch I determined the problem was with the (FCU) the front control unit which is mounted with 4 screws to the outward side of the fuse box.When i asked the dealer if they had one in stock they said they usually kept 6 on the shelf,so I figured if they stock this many then they must be a common problem.This unit cost a bit over $300.00. When i installed it I still had no front or rear park/running lights so I started to remount the fuse box and look for another problem and BINGO I felt the relay click and the lights came on,now I'm thinking did this unit need a few seconds to reset or was this just a flukie fix.Well the lights worked fine for 3 months and the same problem happened again.This time I installed my old FCU just to see if the new one went bad but still no lights,but as I was moving the fuse box around again I felt/heard the relay click and the lights came on.

So I took the fuse box out of the truck and completly dismantled it (dealer says a new one costs $700.00).These boxes snap together and then there are 3 points where the plastic is melted (studs) and these need to be drilled out to separate the top and bottom halves,then the box is easy to take apart.There is a printed circuit board inside that the FCU plugs into with about 40 small connectors and there is where the problem was.One of the lead circuits on the board had corroded and lost connection.I just soldered in a piece of jumper wire and that cured my problem although this probably could be repaired properly by someone with circuit board experience I was happy with my mickey mouse repair for now.

This may sound complicated but the fuse box can be removed from the truck in 10 minutes(honestly) it took me longer to make a sketch of the harness plug in locations than it did to remove the fuse box.Once you have the box out it takes about 20 minutes to drill the (3) plastic studs and split the top and bottom sections (there are no springs on ball bearings or other surprises to fly out as you separate the 2 parts) then if you don't feel you have the skills to check the board and do the repairs you can have an electronics shop do an inspection.

A couple of things that puzzled me while trying to find this problem was that the dash lights still worked,the chime that rings to tell you you have left your lights on still chimed even with only the park lights on,and there was no power at both park light fuses.

When i found out the price of these fuse boxes I automatically thought I'd get one cheap at the local junk yard..big surprise,they said they can't find enough of them to keep up with the demand and also said they often get calls from people saying that their fuse box burned up,so appearently there is a problem with dodge truck fuse boxes!! When I questioned the service manager at my dodge dealer about these things going bad he agreed and said they have replaced many of them.

You might have cut a wire or it could have broken or disconnected. Try tracing the wiring where you hooked up the trailer you may find one broken or disconnected.

this car has a brake light switch on the pedal check for power in and out. if in and not out change switch. also I believe their is a relay under the hood . then check to see if the multifunction and hazard switch control brake lights i cant remember if they do like gm's but i am also almost sure they do the multifunction is your turn signal wiper arm that goes into steering wheel . after you check the brake switch and relay have some one jiggle the hazard and multi while pressing the brakes see if they come on. you can call ford and ask them about the multi and hazard .

1995 Geo Prizm brake lights do not work replace brake switch already checked fuses already


Did you check for voltage to and from brake switch on proper wire colors? Use a testlite to check for voltage, you can see the wire colors in the diagram. At the proper fuse, not only check the fuse, check the fuse circuit for voltage. You can see the top wire is fuse protected and hot all the time. When the brake switch is activated that little line with arrow-head moves to the other terminal and that wire becomes hot.

its quite easy to spot a blown fuse generally a blown fuse looks like this with the wire cut in the middle.

Keeps blowing starter fuse has new starter does it every once in a while


Check and follow the wires check for cuts, tears loose wires. Usually the starter wires lead to the battery check around that area. Check the connections on the starter maybe it's grounding where it's not suppose to.

Check the battery too I had a battety that moved and arc into the hood it would engage the the starter while the car was running all kinds of strange things.

L8000 turn signal wiring diagram, turn signals not keeping power traced power supply but cannot find correct relay , they work periodically when u slam the hood


If the front are the ones not working only, check grounds. If it is the front and back. Replace the turn signal switch. All exterior lights except the high mount brake light runs threw it.

Brake lights not working on my 1985 ford f150 after I replaced the brake switch


disconnect turn signal switch wires @ column, put power to wires to brake lights. that cks wiring to lights. next put power to wires through turn signal to ck switch. Power runs from brake light switch to turnsignal switch, to lights.

No power to left rear turn/ brake light


Check the display. Ask a helper to step on the brake pedal while you check the lights from the rear. If no lights appear, check the fuse that connects the brake lights. The owners manual will show the location of the fuse box and which fuse is for the brake lights. Pull out the fuse and look at the wire in the central window. If the wire is broken, replace the fuse. Make sure the new fuse is not blown, and carries the same amperage.
Take note of lights that are out, if any are working. The problem may be cured by replacing the bulb in a brake light that's out. A burned out bulb has a broken filament and a dark brown spot on one side. Check the owners manual for bulb type.
Check the circuit if replacement bulbs and fuses do not restore the lights. Find the wiring diagram in the vehicle assembly manual. The circuit for the brake lights runs from the battery to the fuse, to the pedal switch, to a connection plug, to the lights. The circuit has to be checked with a volt tester at all points.
Check the battery power and the light on your volt tester. Turn the ignition key far enough to activate the electrical systems. Turn on the lights to check for battery power. If the battery has power, ues it to check the volt tester. Put the black lead (the ground) from the volt tester on the negative battery terminal. Briefly touch the red tester light on the positive terminal. The light on the volt tester should flash brightly.
Test the wiring to the fuse. Clip the ground wire to solid metal near the fuse. Touch the light tip to both sides of the fuse. Both should light the tester. If neither side lights, the wire between the battery and fuse is bad. If only one side lights, the fuse is blown.
Test the switch and wiring. Touch the light tip of the tester to both terminals on the brake pedal switch without putting any pressure on the pedal. One should carry power and the other should not. When both show power, the switch is stuck and the brake lights are always on. If neither shows power, the wiring between the fuse and the switch is bad. Now check both switch terminals while the pedal is depressed. Both sides should light the tester. If not, the switch is bad.
Check the connection plug. Unplug the connection and refer to the vehicle manual to identify the brake light wire. Touch the tester light on the brake light wire at the inner socket on the battery side. If the tester lights, the power is flowing to this point. If not, the wire between the plug and the pedal switch is bad.
Check the socket. Plug in the connector plug and remove the bulb. Touch the contact inside the socket. If the tester lights, the socket is good. The socket and wire running to the plug should be replaced if the tester doesn't light.
Check the bulb with the ground wire. The bulb must be in its socket. The ground wire running to the socket should be black or brown. Stab the tester through the insulation. If the tester lights, the bulb is good. Replace the bulb if it doesn't light.
Check the ground wire. Remove some of the insulation around the ground wire. Twist one end of the extra wire around the exposed ground wire. Touch the other end to a solid piece of metal. If the brake light comes on, the ground wire is bad.

What could be the causes of injectors not opening and spark plugs not firing


A long list of things. From fuses to ignition switch to ecu to security alarm and more.

Here is how to start looking: Turn the key to on. Do the dash gauges and warning lights and check engine light come on? Then power is getting to the switch and being sent out from it. Next, use a test light and check for power TO the coils and TO the injectors with key on. All four injectors use the same color power wire. My wiring diagram is poor quality, but it looks like a green wire or possibly a gray wire-remember same color power wire to all injectors-the other injector wire is a ground wire, and they are all different colors. Pull one injector connector off and check for power on one terminal with key on. And could do the same at the coil pack. With key on, the white wire with red stripe to the coils should have power-actually, the white wire is spliced and two white wires are shown going to coil pack-this is the primary current to the coils- is hot in run or start.

If no power to coil or injectors, here are the fuses to check: in the under hood fuse/relay block: ecu-10 amp fuse, Eng-15 amp fuse, and these maxi fuses: fuel inj-30 amp fuse, Main- 80 amp fuse, Ign-40 amp fuse. And one more- a designated Main fuse-15 amp fuse.
If these fuses are good, should have power going to injectors and the coil pack with key on. If the key is turning on the dash, some of those fuses are known good, but need to check all of those listed.

I will stop here, and wait for your reply. You get this far, you are on the way to diagnosing the problem.

I assume the fuse has power if the hazards work.
The third brake light skips the turn signal switch, the regular brake light circuit goes thru the turn signal switch.
Do you have power going into the turn signal switch on the red lite green wire from the brake switch ?
