Remove the plastic covers around the ignition switch, insert the key in the ignition and turn the key to ignition on position (just before start position) now locate the pin on the side of the ignition switch which is flush with the aluminium housing holding the barrel, the pin is about 3 mm in diameter.Gently press the pin inwards (which is spring loaded) with a sharp pointed object e.g small screwdriver and at the same time while holding the pin, pull on the ignition key as if you want to remove the key, and the barrel will slide out completely.

I'd check with manufacturer of tow bar to be sure it bolts on the same etc. I'm sure they would give you that info, and if nothing else, call a place that sells them and ask for kit number for both vehicles & if they are the same number, well, just need to check that they bolt on exactly the same, that's why I would contact manufacturer for copy of install instructions for the new install.

the easiest way is to get someone else to do it but I imagine that you want to tackle the problem yourself. if it is on the steering column you have to remove the plastic cowling covering the shaft, this will expose the barrel which should just unbolt, I am only guessing as to where the ignition lock is, if it is in the dash you may have to remove items under the dash to expose the barrel to remove it
