I have a 1994 Isuzu pickup 2.3l. Over heating changed water pump and top hose and now the fan stops whene I put a rolled up magazine in it. But I also suspect the intake manifold gasket


oVER HEATING HAS
Many causes, not 2 like in your post over 10
and many symptoms not just 1. in most cases.
its not a gasket,
what makes you think its overheating
1: steam? go that?
2: engine power loss and ping.?
3: gauge told you ? in cluster, some lie , is yours fibbing (tests)
4: water blasting out the side fail tank (expansion tank>?)
5: leaks to ground>?
6: leaks to passengers toes, heater core or its hoses there leaking.
7: over heats only parked, ??????????????
8: fan dead. (that newspaper trick not a real test) many fans are RPM operated, not simple heat locked, as you think. we use RPM optical meter to test fans.
causes.: lots.
A: thermostat bad, they last about 6-7 years and die all do.
B; RAD cores blocked, we use a $15 IR thermal gun aimed at all tubes top/bottom, and find dead tube with no effort at all.
C: pump bad, no its ok , its new.
D; fan belt slips.
E: fan dead, but would not over heat moving fast. so....
F: junk and crud packing a/c front of RAD, condenser, or RAD.
G:engine block full of MUD, from zero service and flushes in 20 long year.
H: cam belt slipped now timing way off, and huge heat load from poorly burning fuel (and late)hits cylinders walls, x4 and huge heat load on the water jackets and with 1 weak item above, pushes said camel off the cliff, is sparking timing right if not cam slipped a 1minute test with any timing light every made.

2008 jeep liberty.has no heat,blower works, dealer changed water pump,checked heater core flushed lines.they say need cylinders/gasket heads redone replaced a dead battery3wks ago started after that


if cylinder head gasket blown --can have coolant being burnt and cause low fluid levels low or no fluid =no heat as well as overheating and can eventually blow the engine

why not post the full symptoms. and year of car.

if i read all 28 days of posts, i see its a 1988 !

and books on that old dog are hard to find (sold mine)

had 2 , 1988s, matching pair, xj and Comanche.

drove them to death. 500k total, miles.

I know 88s very well, too.

the problem is finding facts on this relic, french ECU car.

but it's online, at mitchells and alldata. and others

to work on this old car, why not get a $15 subscription to mitchells, DIY.

and not work blind and in the dark.

yes, but not low speed, then blower resistor block , burned out.



does the heater water valve open and close proper

with dash temperature lever action ( takes a hand vacuum tool to test this......!!!)



lets work heat. since that is 10x more easy than A/C

1: engine hot, 180F +?

2: water valve opens, with lever? sends hot water to core in cab.

3: both core hose get real hot 180f hot? yes/no

4: does fan blow on high? yes/no

5: ever flush the core out. so it clean inside,

do so at ends of hoses, not at core. or damage is easy to happen there. (ask why and how)

ends means engine side.



6: do the dampers move correctly via cables and vacuum.





you said no power to panel, please say what that means.

easy to test, heat off , it goes closed, heat max

it opens max. can be seen to work, see lever below?

Heated seats and cruise don't work

you only have 2 choices
buy the fsm, or find it here. below or use alldata.com , it's all there.
or check all fuses.

each fuse has many loads. so test them all or read the FSM..
all cars. made.

lets see what is there. fuse 23 blown kills cruise. and brake lamps dead. or PCM in limphome and that can kill cruise,
is CEL out running? if not , CRUISE can be suspended for GOOD reasons, (safety) and more on newer cars...

now seats. not the power seat motors. but heaters.
both sides, dead, bottom and back side?
both sides, have a switch, that the BCM watches.
the BCM controls the seat heat.
above 105F ambient this system shuts down.
in the jeep dealer he connects the DRB and sees whats wrong fast.
if the switch LED are dead key on, the fuse is blown.
are yours? dead? (page 8g-5 , fsm)"heated systems"
if the fuses are good, and the lamp glows, at seat it will take
a dealer DRB tool to find true cause or all day with an ohm meter
per above heated systems pages.

here is how seat heat works, it not like a 1995 car.
the BCM watches that seat switch
it sees (monitors) what you do , then sends (by digital COMMAND via PCI bus to) SM.
power (12vdc) to the heater with the "SEAT MODULE"doing the heavy lifting (drivers)
THE SM drives the seat.
black org. wire to diver back heater. and white to bottom heater
so ill assume the SM lost power, (wild guess)
i can not find the fuse that runs SM module.
but if the LED is out, then the fuse is blown and gee, that is easy to find, just looking.
i dont have a searchable FSM, to scan for SM fuse.

Did you not check the battery for voltage?

You don't know how old it is?

Sounds dead how,only clicks & starter doesn't
turn the motor over,then it's dead

Windows ,gages, air, & heat all quit working at same time was not a fuse


SOUND LIKE A DEAD BATTERY, OR LOOSE CORRODED BATTERY CABLES.CHECK BATTERY VOLTAGE SHOULD BE 12.6 VOLTS.IF BATTERY WAS DEAD, MAKE ALTERNATOR WORKING,WITH ENGINE RUNNING ALTERNATOR OUT PUT VOLTAGE AT BATTERY SHOULD BE 13.5 - 14.5 VOLTS.THERE IS A REASON BATTERY WAS DEAD EITHER BATTERY WORN OUT OR ALTERNATOR STOP CHARGING BATTERY.

Two years later and you solved my dead cigarette lighter. manual says fuse 35--but it did not say to check 38 on the left fuse box. Thanks--blown fuse and everything works. Thanks

Dead mouse in heating system


I would pull the blower motor out and that should allow you access to the duct work, from past expeariance the mouse hangs out around the heater core area, it warm.
