SOURCE: knock sensor code, p0330

The knock sensors either work or they don't. When they do not, the light comes on. All that a knock senor is is a piezo crystal that vibrates at the frequency that is comparable to engine "knock", and sends that yes/no signal to the ECU. There are 2 knock sensors, and both are bolted to each side of the engine interior walls, under each cylinder head. You have to remove both of the intake manifolds to access the knock sensors and their wiring.
Price to pay? My flat rate book suggests 3.7 hrs to change both. 3.7 hrs times your local labour rate, plus the price of the 2 sensors and/or wiring, and the price for the gaskets for the upper & lower manifolds. Depending on your location, you could quickly spend over $500.00.

SOURCE: Location of knock sensor on 1994 toyota 22vre engine

The Knock sensor on a 22re is located under the intake manifold on the engine block. to the upper left of the oil filter. With is the passenger side of the engine. I believe it is yellow in color. Not do be confused with the oil pressure sensor which is close by. The knock sensor has a larger electrical connector. Good luck it can be hard to get to.

Hello, i have a 1996 toyota avalon check engine light on had it checked out. The code read p0325-bank1 knock sensor signal level low or open/shorten. Which sensor is bank 1

Bank 1 are the cylinders closest to the firewall. Bank 2 are closest to the radiator on transverse (sideways v6) engines. Unfortunately, the intake manifold must be removed to access the knock sensors. The sit right under it. Once the intake is removed, you will see two wire leads. Each one plugged in to a knock sensor.

Hope this helps Ray.

My car is misfiring

I own a 2000 avalon and had a similar issue, rough idle especially when stopped, car felt like it was going to stall. I had a couple error codes which included one of the o2 sensors and knock sensors. I replaced the pcv valve , and o2 sensor, both easy fixes, but tue knock sensor is in the top half of the engine. Cost me 500 bucks to replace, install knock sensor at shop. After knock sensor was replaced and other o2 sensor replaced, no more idle issues. What happens if an o2 sensor on one of

I have a 1996 Toyota Avalon XLS V6. Engine light is on and im told i have a bad Knock Sensor. It has 2 and @ $150ea. Is there a cheaper or way to fix or bypass this problem? Ther isnt any knocking or...

i honestly have never seen a knock sensor go bad. a knock sensor detects spark knock, which is from low octane gas. if it hears this then the ecm retards the timing to stop the knock. you wont be able to hear the knock that its listening for. its like a little microphone stuck in the block. before you replace it you might want to check the plugs on the sensor itself. if they are corroded they could cause this problem.. ANYTIME you have engine codes ,always check your ground cables on the engine and the battery. i work in the marine industry and you would be amazed all the codes you can get just from having a corroded battery i said , i have never seen a knock sensor go bad..

Hello. To answer your question, the answer is no. You cannot disconnect it, bypass it or defeat it. The Knock sensor is critical to preventing detonation (valve 'ping'). Sorry that I do not have abetter answer, but, the Knock is indeed important.

Location of knock sensor

You can replace them, I assume they are very expensive, I did a toyota avalon once, since it was a V6 it sits in that V6 valley. It was hell trying to get to. The parts was very expensive for a pair of piezo crystals, which is what a knock sensor is. They are almost like those little piezo element for tweeters that you can buy for 5 bucks. LOL

You need to pull off the entire intake manifold/plenum assembly. The knock sensor is bolted to the inside of the cylinder block, it is in the middle of the culinder block.
