SOURCE: Bleeding Brakes on a 2001 Silverado Z71

Tony,

When bleeding brakes after the system has been opened for service (you didn't say if you were doing any work on the master cylinder) you should start with the farthest wheel away from the master cylinder, which is the righ rear. Fill the master cylinder, then have an assitant "pump up" the brake pedal. Tell them to hold it down firmly, then open the bleeder on the wheel cylinder(s). Do not release the brake pedal until you have closed the bleeder valve again. You'll know when the air is out - there won't be any more bubbles. Since this vehicle is 2001, this would be a great opportunity to flush the system. Just make sure you have enough brake fluid (DOT 3 or 4, depending on your vehicle). Good luck!

SOURCE: how do i bleed my brakes on a 2001 chevy malibu

you will need a friend to help you for this
Buy some new brake fluid, about 500ml should be enough
you can buy some clear plastic tube with about a 3mm hole through it, 300 to 400mm long or 1ft to 1ft 4inches, put one end of the tube into a small jar or something to catch the fluid when it comes out of the bleeder valve
find the bleeder on the disc caliper and also on the backing plate of the rear wheels unless it has rear disc brakes as well, slip the other end of the plastic tube over the bleeder screw
top up the brake fluid in the resevoir
get you friend or whoever to pump the brake pedal
while you put the spanner on the bleeder screw
tell your friend to push down on the pedal
loosen the bleeder screw about half a turn until the brake fluid starts to come through the plastic tubing
your friend has to keep the pressure on the brake pedal as it will go to the floor when you open the bleeder
once it has been pushed to the floor tell your friend to hold it down while you close the bleeder screw
once you have closed the bleeder screw he or she can pump the pedal up again until it goes hard
repeat this process until there is a good flow of fluid coming through with no air
check the brake fluid resevoir several times during this process to make sure that is not empty because if it is empty you will have to start the process all over again
repeat this process for all 4 wheels
hope this has helped

Need wiring diagram for 2001 chevy tracker for dead short in the brakes blowing fuses

Which fuses are blowing? If it is blowing several fuses, not sure about that? If problem with 1 wire circuit and it is dedicated circuit, I usually leave a pig-tail at both ends and splice in a new wire, that is usually faster than trying to find a bad spot on a wire?

Just changed rear disc pads and one caliper on 2001 Chevy Blazer...now rear brakes are not working at all...fluid is in lines as it comes out when bleeding...help!

the problem here is in order to bleed the brakes properly u need to have a special tool to open up the ABS high pressure pop-it valves, this special tool will be avail at the dealer or in a generic form at any well equiped front end shop, u just can't bleed the brakes without it, I see this same posted problem over and over, this information is correct, u will need a shop to bleed the brakes

Can not get a pedal, replaced master cylinder twice, bled everything, no pedal...can't seem to get fluid out of the 3 front ports on the master cylinder...could both master cylinders be defective, or am I...

Did you bleed the master cylinder before you put it in the vehicle? This usually makes it easier to bleed the entire brake system if this is done before you install the master cylinder.Other wise all you have done is put air in the brake system. The master cylinder kit usually comes with a bleeder kit. This is for bench bleeding the master.Hope this helps.Good luck.

My 1999 chevy tracker 78k miles rear drivers side leaks a fliud and makes a light scrubbing noise brakes and drums were replaced it may have something to do with 4wheel drive axle i was told has anyone had...

Is the fliud a lite clear brown/tan (brake fliud) or is it a dark black colour (gear oil)? It sounds like you have a brake fluid leak. Check your steel line on the rear axle and then remove the wheel and drum and check the wheel cylinder. Top up your Master cylinder and bleed the brakes. You might find the light scrubbing noise gone.
