Check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.

SOURCE: brake lights and running lights are connected.

Obviously some wires shorting out, probably at the rear of the truck where gravel stones have pounded them Or, if you have a trailer plug on it, that would be a good place to look.

Hey there..my name is Keith..and you have 2 problems..from my expierence..your brake light problem is usually caused by the switch either bad or loose on the back side of your brake pedal..and your ABS light is uaually caused by a bad sensor in your brakink system that needs to be checked out by a shop..unless you are able to troubleshoot and figure out which sensor is at fault..i hope i helped..if not feel free to write back

SOURCE: How do you change a brake light bulb in a 1997

mcdevito75 here, Look directly in the back of the light, if the carpet is in the way move it, you should see plastic wing nuts, remove those wing nuts and the whole assembly should come out to change the bulbs. Reverse the procedure to re install. Also Check outside on the RED lens for amy screws.

SOURCE: My 97 Nissan Pickup's brake

these warning lights are an indication that your alternator is not producing output voltage.in very rare instances it is a supply circuit problem to the alternator but 9 out of 10 the failure is the alternator itself.best bet would be to have a charging system test performed to confirm.hope this helps.please let me know.

Truck runs rough and will not pick up speed also abs light came on, idles up and down.

Do you smell a burning smell? or smoke from the wheels? (brakes) You may be running with the brakes activated due to ABS problem (no pickup) and your accelerating & the PC is lowering the idle. (erratic idle?) Or a idle speed control or throttle positioning sensor? Get that one checked out. It could be as simple as a vacuum leak. That's a hard one to call without checking it out. Good luck

My brake lights would not shut off,I had to use hazards to get home. Then they stopped blinking and also my turn signals done the same. 95 nissan hardbody pickup 2-wheel drive

Possibly the brake light switch, and if the blinker lights just stay on when you turn them on, and don't blink , could be your blinker relay.

Went through car wash and after the abs light went off so i thought got some mouisture some were but when you get out of truck the break lights stay on?its a 97 nissan pick up 2wd automatic

there is a plastic button that the brake light switch pushes against when the pedel is NOT being pressed . If it has falling out there is nothing to press on the switch in which case the brake lights would stay on also is one of the signals the abs uses
