You can buy them. Available on-line too. Hacksaw the old rubber out and then press the new one in with a vice.

Is it safe to drive my BMW Z3 with a broken engine mount bracket?

You can drive the car ,but you may experience some handling issues and noise that you normally would not hear. Try to get it fixed as soon as possible to keep from creating other problems in the drive train components.

Car shakes when idling'

Well this could be caused by a number of things. But the most common cause is an "engine miss." You could have 1 cylinder that has stopped firing. This will cause a very rough idle and very possibly shake or shudder whenever you accelerate. Another cause may be a main "vacuum hose could be disconnected" from it's port. Vacuum leaks cause engine shake at idle. Check for loose, cracked, or disconnected vacuum hoses under the hood. The third and least likely cause is a "broken or worn motor mount". If the engine is not securely held down in place by all the motor mounts, it will vibrate excessively and cause a shake at idle. The engine miss and motor mount problems are 2 issues best left to a professional to tackle. But as I said, you could tackle the vacuum leak issue yourself by checking under the hood. Hope this helps, good luck!

My mountaineer shakes like a motor mount is broke. there isn't a mount broken

check all spark plug lines ... that shaking could be one plug not firing causing a out of rythem engine vibrations
if they are all connected then try disconnecting plug wire hold plug wire near metal near plug end to see if its also firing YOU need to hold plug wire back a little from the end or it will arch to your hand not pleasent shock ...

There is a growling noise in the front end in front of the driver only occurs when pushing on gas petal

Sounds like a possible motor mount loose or broken, but hard to say.
Quick test:
Open hood, put car in drive, hold foot tight on brake pedal don't let off the brakes, accelerate slightly, if the mount is broken engine should lift up on the right side looking out the drivers side windshield, and show signs of the fan blades hitting the black plastic fan shroud in front of the radiator.
A car lift is the easiest and safest way to gain access for replacement of a broken engine mount.

The steering wheel is very loose. I've been told to replace the whole steering column. Does this include from the wheel all the way into the engine to the tire assembly? What's the general process?

The column unbolts from near the fire wall.. You should only need to replace the column from near the fire wall and all that is inside the car..

Have a great day !

94 Grand Am looses power and abuses fuel. What is

Your fuel filter is probably on the fuel pump or on the fire wall of your engine - Mostly likely off of your fire wall. If it is loosing power have your catalytic convertor checked. Change your fuel pump, this could be your problem. All of these you can change yourself. I don't believe that a '94 Grand AM has an access panel to the fuel pump so you will have to drop the tank - Just make sure that it is below a 1/2 tank before dropping it. Buy a Chilton and it will give you step by step direction. Good luck!

99 sl rattle in front when engine warms, not a rod knocking.

The solution is simple and easy, if not cheap. You have a defective upper motor mount. If you open the hood and look for the motor mount on the left hand side near the accessory belt, you will notice that the rubber has shrunk. THAT is the problem.
This will only make noise at idle at a stoplight and doesn't do it all the time.
I have a 1999 Saturn SL and have fixed this problem once by replacing the motor mount. The first time, it was just out of warranty and only had about 60,000 miles on it. It has manifested itself again (started a while ago - now has 114,000 miles on it) I am the only owner of the car and it is now 10 years old. I won't change it again unless they redesign the motor mount.
You can replace the motor mount yourself if you are somewhat handy - it will cost around $100 for the part if I recall correctly. Make sure you prop the motor up; it should take about 30-60 minutes.
