Question about 1996 Honda Accord
The first thing that is wrong with the car is my Speedometer stoped working and two there is a piece of metal that is almost in the middel of the car but it is futher up under the car and it makes noise some times and if im going over a spped bump you can hear the metal scrap the ground
My dad bought and old 1996 accord, and the speedometer wasn't working. Our neighbor, who is a mechanic, said that his is a pretty common problem. The problem isn't the sensor, it's the actual speedo, and fixing it requires taking apart the whole dashboard and stuff - nasty business. We just paid him to do it. If I remember correctly, it wasn't too expensive - $60 or something...
So my advice is - make it easier on yourself. Take it to a shop.

You should take the speed sensor back off, make sure that there is a little metal pin, with 2 small tabs on the sides, still inside the bottom of the sensor. This actually turns with the tranny and tells the sensor how fast you are going. I replaced mine once and this pin had fell out, after taking it out, I figured out this pin can easily fall out and then you will have no speed reading from the tranny.

The metal piece is just a heat shield...rip it off and that problem is gone or get a self tapping screw and screw it back up. was there any trans work done on the car recently??
