Question about 2002 Cadillac Escalade

1 Answer

I have a 2002 Cadillac Escalade that ran completely out of gas.

I have added 10 gallons of gas and the vehicle still will not start. Is there some kind of reset switch or is it more likely that the fuel pump is bad? Help!

In case any one is interested in following up with this...what I didn't know was.....if you keep trying to crank the escalade when it won't cran, or when a foreign key is put into the switch, the vehicle thinks someone is trying to steal it and it shuts down. Then the starter has to be "reset" through a process of simple steps.

If you can get a rubber mallet under the gas tank,,rap on the underside of the tank as someone else tries to start the car.
Sometimes this is enough to get the pump working again.
But it usually is a temporary fix and you need to have a new pump installed.

Could be a whole host of issues. You'll need to start eliminating things - first I would ensure the alternator is functioning normal (this is what provides electrical power to the vehicle once started) because if this goes, then the vehicle runs off what power is in the battery. In very short order, the battery will drain, then your vehicle will stop running.

the fuel pump is cooled by gas so if u run it low alot or {OUT} it can burn it up

I ran my 2004 cadillac escalade out of gas after putting 4 gallons of gas in it it will start and when it does it is very very shaky and it will not idle what do I do

There is air in the fuel system. Look for the fuel filter, if its in a container, unscrew it then fill the container the filter sits in about 2/3 full. reinstall the filter and screw it back on. You basically need to prime the full system, and it should be fine. or just hold the revs midway, and let the fuel pump purge itself of air.

2002 caravan stalled, faulty gas gage added fuel ran for 2 blocks, stalled added 4 more gallons non-ethanol - no start checked fuel pump fuses & relay had towed 2 miles - started fine! ideas?...

Looks like your fuel supply line has got chocked. This happens when the dirt from the gas tank comes into the fuel line when the tank is getting empty as it has happened in your case. Check your fuel filter and replace if required.

2007 escalade ran fine to the gas station then wouldnt start

There is a possibility the fuel pump may need to be replaced. Occasionally a pump will fail when the cool fuel is introduced in a tank even though the vehicle ran to the station with no problem.

Fuel pump

Not a simple problem, the fuel pump has most likely burned up. The pump uses the gas to keep it cool, and will continue to run until it has built up the correct pressure.
