Question about 2002 Mini Cooper
I have a 2003 Mini Cooper S and nothing is marked as to where or what type of power stereing fluid use. I think I might know where it goes but its not written in english and that might be for the transmision fluid. There is a black fluid container about center amost against the fire wall. I know this may be a stupid question but the owners manual does not say anything about it.
The power steering reservoir looks to be right next to a clear fluid reservoir, most likely for coolant but could be windshield washer fluid. Its a small black reservoir. It takes Pentosin chf 11s hydraulic fluid.

That is the power steering resevoir. I had the same problem and a call to my Mini dealer cleared it right up. It is located against the firewall (center) Good luck!

Yes, this is a problem. The clear power steering fluid is a mineral oil base and the red Lucas additive is petroleum base. Your car uses the red petroleum base, which is actually Dexron ATF (automatic transmission fluid). Lucas is great stuff, the person at the parts store just doesn't know their stuff. You need to flush the system to save your pump from going out very prematurely.
