Since owning the car, I have replaced 12 coil packs, a fan control unit and now... my tech tells me that 2 PCMs need to be replaced. They attempted to reflash, but the code P1586 wont go away. TWO new PCMs with reflash and install is 12k!! Seem right??? 2 Units?? What could cause this? tx!

SOURCE: Audi A4 coil pack

There are 4 coils, one for each cylinder. Audi tend to replace one at a time to save costs. So yes this is probably quite likely.

The relay that is located right usually in the middle of the fans is stuck open.Take that off and take it to the nearest parts store and they should have it in stock. Its kind of a common problem. That relay is designed to finish cooling off the car before they shut off and they'll run with the keys out.If the relay is bad they'll keep on running till the battery is dead..

It will start then die if i hold the gas peddal down it will run for a min but it sputters really bad and backfires it has a new crankshaft sen dont know were to go next all this just started one day

sounds like your ignititon control module is going bad, this controls you spark and timing by a electronic brain.. THe location of your ignition control module is underneath the spark coil packs. if you follow your spark plug wires from your spark plug backward to the coil packs. if it is a 6 cylinder you will see 3 black coil packs with 2 wires attached to each coil. the coils are held in place by a few screw each, just make sure you mark each coil with tape so you do not get them mixed up when you take them off, I dont know what year your vehicle is but if it is more them 10-12 yrs old and has never been replaced, then i would replace it .I know because i have experienced these same kinds of problems with my general motor vehicles i have owned..

Hi, i have 1987 buick park aveneu elektra vithe the V6 enigene. I cheinge electrikal Cable on the engine ande mixt ap. There is 6 wiers gous to the 6 cilinders. Wich owne is ferst, second, therd antil six....

The numbers to the cylinders are on the coil packs. Standing on the passenger side of the car looking at the engine, the right side is 1, 3, 5 cylinders. On the left is 2, 4, 6 cylinders. Put the correct number cylinder plug wire on the correct number coil pack. The 1,3,5 cylinder plug wires will go on the right side of the coil pack, and the 2,4,6 will go on the left. They will not be in order on the coil pack, so double check the cylinder number.

Had coil pack, wires, spark plugs put on because engine like was on saying coil pack problem replaced and still saying coil pack problem? what to do next?

Make sure you cleared off the Error Code after you repaired it. An Error code will stay for 25-35 Startups before it cycles out of the system.

Check your power wire to the coil and see if is at least 12 Volts. Other possible problems for the coil would be getting reliable firing sequences from the Crank and Cam sensors.

I hope my solution is helpful.

You need a blower motor resistor pack, follow the wire from the motor it will go into a connector with a few wires at the resistor pack. it's held in by 2 screws- easy to change.

Does the car have spark plug wires? i went to purchase some wires but the clerk said my car takes coil packs.. so do that mean i dont need wires for the spark plug tune-up??

So you want to tune it up , but someone has to tell you it has no wires? Have you looked at the engine at all? why do you want to do a tune up? The coils are very problem prone, and you need to use care in replacing the spark plugs, use only Auto-lite or Motorcraft platinum spark plugs, and use a silicone grease in the boots. After you remove the coil, blow compressed air down the tube an dblow out any dirt, before removing the spark plug. Wires are/were never an item for a tune up, unless they were bad. Replace the fuel filter.

Ford mustang - year 2000 - 3.8 liter. The coil pack is out?

I replaced the coil pack to no avail. I also purchase a code reader while at the auto parts store. This device told me cylinder 3 was misfiring (P0303). I found that the spark plug wire had shorted out on the manifold sensor tubes. Replaced that wire and done.

I highly recommend keeping a code reader in your car tool kit. very useful.
