The engine will stop running.
The 4 cyl turbo and 6 cyl engines are interference engines, which means the valves could be damaged if the cam stops and the pistons keep going.

My daughter just got a 2000 volvo s40. It has a 115,000 miles and the timing belt has never been changed. And, the transmission fluid is brown. Should we be concerned?

Yes, and no. The timing belt MUST BE CHANGED. It should have been changed at around 60,000miles Bad, bad things can happen if it breaks while its running. As for the tranny fluid, it has probably never been changed either so it's probably 11 years old. Just have that changed as well. Otherwise, very nice car. Good luck with it.

Timing belt keeps jumping tim 3 times know reset runs good for awhile

You have a bad timing belt tensioner. Stop driving it because you are probably due for a new timing belt also if the tensioner is bad. If the timing belt breaks while you are driving it, serious damage may occur like a valve punching through a piston, bent valve, damaged cam, serious stuff can happen if the timing belt breaks.

I own a 2000 Nissan Frontier crew cab v6 - I was wondering what would happen if my timing belt broke - I just turned 107000 mi. - would the motor lock everyting up - or just the belt broke - also I...

If your timing belt breaks some of the valves will stay open and the pistons will come up and either break the valve or could put a hole in a piston. This is very costly. The rattle could be the belt tensioner

Is it recommended to change the timing belt on a 2006 Honda Accord 4 door V6. And what would happen if the timing belt should break? lowellshoaf@gmail.com

yes it is recommended that you change your timing belt. Some engines have whats known as a contact motor. In other words if the timing belt breaks the pistons could hit the valves and damage them to the point that the heads would have to come off. This could cost a whole lot more than replacing the belt. Also if the timing belt drives the water pump you should have it replaced at the same time. Hope this helps. Please leave comment.

Were can i find a diagram for the timing to fix my 1994 ford escort

The best place is the library, check out a chiltons/moter or haynes repair manual. Any of these will have all the info you need for the job.
A couple of things you should know about the older escorts, in many
cases the timing belt breaks becouse the water pump siezed.
Make sure to check it while your in there.Another bad thing that can happen when the belt breaks. Your cam shaft and crank shaft are spinning out of sync. This can couse bent valves and other nasty things, to happen. This happens most often when the belt breaks at
high rpm. Hope this helps Good luck

Can the valves go through the pistons if the timing belt breaks on a 2004 santa fe with a 2.7 liter? i thougth all manufacturers quit building engines like that years ago.

most all engines with a timing belt are "interference" engines and valve and or piston damage will happen. The auto industry never quit the building of interference engines. Although it would seem like a good idea. it would be a very good idea to take for granted that damage will happen if the belt breaks in your vehicle.
