Question about 2000 Ford Taurus
I took my 2000 ford taurus to the shop because of a check engine light. the diagnostic codes were po305, po 443 and. po 153. the 02 censor and purge solinoid were repaired. after driving about 15 miles, the check engine light came on again. i called the shop that did the repairs and i wasbtold to take it to the ford dealer to reprogram the computer/pcm. i called the ford dalership and was told reprogramming the computer was useless and i would need to pay $125 for another diagnostic. i already paid $388 for the previous work. what should my next step be? please help. thank you.
. code po305 is cylinder 5 misfire that can a bad spark plug or a injector.po153 is a o2 sensor. there is 3 on your engine. which one did they replace. the code po153 is for the front one it is in front of the radiator. code po443 is for the purge solenoid ,but there is many things the can cause the code the garage should have checked things first. wow

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

May need to clean the egr valves because if one is stuck then the other bank would be enriched to make up the difference .In order to reset the computer when your done is unhook battery and then reconnect. But realize some radios are subject to needing a code to make them work again because of a theft sensor. Here are some a few sensors and what happens when the don't work right.
Symptoms of a P0118 could include:
* Very poor fuel economy
* A no start condition
* Vehicle may start, but run very poorly, blowing black smoke, running very rough and misfiring
* Illumination of MIL
Symptoms of a P0121 trouble code could include:
* Malfunction Indicator Lamp
(MIL) illumination (Check Engine Light or Service Engine Soon light)
* Intermittent stumble on acceleration or deceleration
* Blows black smoke on acceleration
* No start
Usually a fault in the control circuit, will leave no noticeable symptoms other than the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. However, if the EGR control solenoid
is stuck open due to debris, etc. the code may be accompanied by misfire under acceleration, rough idle, or engine dying altogether.
You will more than likely not notice any drivability problems, although there may be symptoms such as a lack of power, detonation (spark knock), and/or a hesitation/surge on acceleration.
A code P0171 may mean that one or more of the following has happened:
* The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty. Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry.
* There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor.
These are the main ones
God Bless Greg
