Question about Hyundai Motor 2003 Elantra
The car is not reacting to the remote for locking/unlocking the doors any more even though that has a new battery. Unlocking the doors with the key triggered the anti-theft alarm, which went silent when standing on the brake or putting the key into the ignition and keeping it turned to ON for long enough. The interior light seemed dimmer than usual and the car alarm actually seemed choppy and not the normal regular sound. Is this most likely just a problem with my car battery?
Turn your headlights on and see if they are nice and brite, and than see if headlights get dim when you try to start the engine.

SOURCE: alarm problem on my 2001 elantra
This alarm system can only be 'disarmed' using the keyless remote programmed for this specific vehicle. Press the "Unlock" button on the keyless remote -- this resets/disarms the alarm system. If you do not have keyless remote for this vehicle, get one and have it programmed at a Hyundai Service Center. Problem solved.

the car has two codes one is fixed the other is a rolling code which changes each time you press the unlock button, the first is allowing you to unlock the car but when you open the door it thinks your trying to steal it and the alarm goes off, then when you put in key it is recognising the key and switching off the alarm....NOW if you follow the instructions in the book you can reset the alarm(as i worked for hyundai over 5 years ago i cant remember the sequence, sorry)
